Why My A$$ Is Dirty

So I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with the rear of the car getting dirty so easy? I dont know if

its because I have wider tires and sitting lower or if its normal. I am just getting tired of having to wipe off my

trunk and rear bumper every time I drive it for more than ten miles. One of my buddies said I could put a diffuser

under the rear or just get the lower valance for it. Would that solve my problem. Any suggestions out there?

I have the same problem, after a carwash if i get on a open freeway for 2 miles and get off, the upper part of my rear bumper and the trunk is all dust. I think it is the way the car's aerodynamics work.

Aerodynamics... The tires kick up dirt from the road and the airflow over/around the car sucks it back to the rear of the car where the air envelope is 'closing'.

The car punches a hole in the air as you drive. When the air comes back together in the back its a bit turbulent and that just moves all the dirt over the rear end.

The oem spoiler maybe helps about 10%... it lowers the drag coefficient by .01

Have any of you tried Cottonelle wet wipes?

I thought this car was suppose to have a good drag coefficient??? If it did it wouldn't get dirty??

get the factory 03-04 mud flaps that stick out on the sides...is because u have wide tires on the back. my cousin has the same problem but is now fixed.

I do also.. yes it still gets dirty.. i wasnt really being too serious about that. It does help drag slightly, but im not sure it will help with dirt

when at speed, the rear bumper/trunk area is a low pressure zone. dust/dirt particles get drawn into the area from the surrounding high pressure area. what results is a dirty a$s end. the only way around this is to alter your aero...

Same here and boy does it suck. Looks like I may have to customize a rear diffuser or something.

It's been that way on most of the cars I have had.

Mine does the same thing, it's because the back of the car is nearly flat. When the air moves past the top of the trunk (a few degrees off of horizontal) to the back of the car (a few degrees off of vertical), it causes a pressure drop. Whatever the air was carrying (dirt, dust, pollen) is no longer carried by pressured air. It it taken out of the airstream and falls where it will. It just happens to be on the bumper and back of the trunklid.

If you ever get a chance, look at the back of an old hatchback. They get it a lot worse.

I hear you on that Timmah, except on my eclipse 96 GST. The rear on that car only got dirty if it rained. So is there any type of diffuser for our G sedans or even the coupe? Also did any of you guys that had the lower valance( rear lip) installed notice any difference. I dont want to get one but this might sell me on it.

plus I think you can get carbon deposits on the rear bumper from the exahust.

I don't like to remove the dust b/c of small micro-scratches that are possible...Your car can still look good if its clean and dusty so long as it has not rained. believe it or not some roads are just dustier than others b/c of construction nearby or lots of airblowers from residential lawnmowing.

you know a cool feeling is when you park somewhere and the business is having their lawn done....If I'm on the grass side and they're edging by my car that majorly pisses me off. If I'm parked away from grass, they still get you with the airblower
