Tire pressure monitoring system

Ok Im going back and forth on new tires from diff places beating prices. I want the bridgestone turanza serenity 215/55/17. I went to firestone first because there tire place is basically the same as tirerack online with shipping included. $151.99. Now they said they had to replace the TPMS O ring when taken apart, which is $32 added. Now I heard about tirerack locations, which arent near me use the existing whole piece or something. Now I went to sears and they beat firestone, but they said I dont need to replace valves stems or anything, they will deflate tire and cut around it and use existing stem. So firestone said I will have leaks or not good for brand new tire. He also said will not install it if the o rings are not replaced. So im leaning toward sears. Sears wants with alignment, balancing, tires $753. Why does this seem still alot for tires? Then I get a $100 reward card rebate in mail when i send away for purchasing 4 of these.

mine have been mounted and dismounted 3 times (powder coating twice and tires once) - nothing special needed to be done.

well then i wont go to them then and I will have sears install them. I dont understand what it is really anyways. Why would a O ring seperate or something? Is this TPM connected to the tire stem? Do I even have tire stems inside?

the tps is on the back-side (the side that is in the tire) its just a thin 1”X1” (maybe a little smaller) plastic square thing... it attaches to the actual valve stem itself... there might be an O ring or some type of seal on the inside... the problem is that if they are not careful the tsp can be damaged and they are expensive. I would have them very carefully mount and dismount as is - unless they will warranty against damage if they screw something up by adding or removing anything...

No surprise here....!

No surprise here, Firestone is feeding you a line of ....! I've saved lot of cash
over the years buying my tires from Tire Rack (good prices & zero tax) taking
them to an independent tire shop for installation. Checkout your old tires, are
they wearing inside/outside edges if not you don't need an alignment. More
wasted money you could be spending on yourself/wife....

discount tire center is good too, they will match tire rack's price right there on the spot. Note that they will include the shipping price to the per tire calculation. But they are awesome, a great company

thanks guys, firestone is dumb I guess Sears is down to earth hehe, well I got the price down a bit, since I kept going around beating each others prices. Hehe maybe Ill take firestones price and go to another sears location because they beat the sears price again. I havent had an alignment since I got the car, I know I need one. I can see the edges and I do need new tires. Im doing the $100 reward card when buying 4 new bridgestone tires.
