Question Question on selling Sedan w/ 6psd

I'm getting ready to put my 04 Sedan up for sale. Looking to get a used, low mileage 07/08 Sedan with Sport package. Question is: what kind of market is there for a 6spd Sedan? I've had trouble before selling cars with manual transmissions. Seems like dealers don't want to give much for a trade in with a manual transmissions, so I'll most likely be selling it privately. Just wondering if anybody had a good experience selling a manual transmission? I guess it is all about finding the right buyer.

yes it is about finding the right buyer. the fact that 6mt sedans are rare works for and against it. dealers may view them as a pain to sell, but there will be the guys out there who have been waiting anxiously for a 6mt to pop up. just like me before i bought mine 2nd hand. i had been waiting for several months until finally mine came on the market and i snapped it up.

i'd test the market by trying to sell it private if i was you. i've never had a problem selling any other manual tranny car in the past...

It comes down to you selling it in the right place at the right time. I wouldn't buy a 04 without a 6speed, but a person with a family might not.

Yeah, those guys are exactly right. I would have gone for a 6spd, but I needed the all wheel drive a bit more considering where I live, and how often I need to leave when the roads are bad out.

You'll sell the car, I'm sure of it. Try listing on craigslist and then, if you have to, Autotrader. Let the buyer know its rare to find a sedan in 6mt.

^ sorry to sidetrack the thread, but how do you like your Z suspension swap. i'm about to swap in an '06 Z shock/strut combo. any problems? did you get back into alignment without a camber kit?

There is a good market for it. I had a hard time finding my car when I got it (used) and was sooo happy.

Canucklehead,

I love the Z suspension. Perfect drop in my opinion. And the ride is perfect. Not to stiff, not to soft. I didn't have the car realigned afterwards and I've only experienced a little wear in the inside edge. I just make sure I keep the tires rotated regularly.

And thanks for all of the advice. I currently have the G advertised in the local paper (Tampa Tribune). I forgot about Craigslists. I will post an ad there as well.

I just purchsed my 2006 6MT for a $19,000 and it's only 20 months old. High mileage at 37k but near perfect.

It was a trade in and had been at the dealer for over 60 days. I offered 19 and they accepted immediately. Should have offered lower. They were asking 23,500.

Manual transmission sedan guys usually buy BMWs not Nissans.

I think it'll be a tough sale.

Todd

I had the same situation as naughty. Took me a couple months to find a 6MT sedan with black interior, and like him, bought the first one I found even though the color (desert platinum) wasn't my first choice.

Put it up on http://www.craigslist.org/

I had a 5speed Maxima there and I got calls for it the same day.

I think in SoCal, it is easier to sell.
When I bought mine new, several dealers sold out as soon as they got them. Back then the Infiniti website used to show the dealer inventory and there were only 2 at that time.

It's hard to find a decent one. I was looking for a DG or CB sedan, 6MT, Nismo bumper and never found one that was within 400 miles of me. I searched EVERYDAY online.

Eventually, I settled for a DG 6MT with no aero kit, and even that took 9 months to find the right one.
