2003.5 sedan. Good deal???
Re: 2003.5 sedan. Good deal???
RJ,
Why would you pay cash for a car? Especially with interest rates the way they are, it's much more financially sound to keep that cash, finance it (I got 3.5% on a 60 month), and invest that money you would have spent in a sound index.
Break out a calculator with TVM calculations and you'll see what I mean.
BTW, I think that's a good price, but I agree with the poster that said to find something with fewer miles on her. Remember, you're going to have to sell her someday too and high mileage cars are tough to sell.

Wellllllll,
I hate debt. Beyond that - the Mrs hates debt. If you owe someone money - they basically own you as far as that comitment is concerned, so don't want to do that. Yes - you can get cheap financing, but you are still paying them and they make enough money without me helping them out further. As for selling the car - I don't usually sell them. They go to the junk yard when I'm done, or I get a mercy trade. I'm just plain cheap - so it's even amazing I'm considering something so fine (and spendy) as a G.

I'm the same way. This G is gonna last me at least 200,000 miles.
When it goes, it will have been all used up. We put 170,000 miles
on our old Honda, my previous car had 150,000 mile on her when
she was totaled.

A few years ago, when I was looking for an used pickup, I ran accross a dealership that told me that, if I didn't buy the pickup, they were going to auction it off the next Monday.
I went home and looked up the prices on the internet, and it actually had a decent price, below book according to a few sites.
Unfortunately, it was priced more than my limit (at the time. By the time I actually bought a pickup, I spent even more). However, the truck was still there 4 months later. If they hadn't lied to me, I would probably have bought it from them when I realized I couldn't get what I wanted at my old limit.
Of course, I also had a limit when I bought my G35, then ended up breaking THAT limit too. I decided that, if I was going to buy a vehicle for 7 years, I might as well spend the extra for the Navigation system.

Yeah, that way you NEVER have to stop and ask for
directions! It's a guy thing. Wish I had one.

I tested the nav last night to go to a restaurant I knew the way too and it took me on the weirdest route ever when I selected the shortest distance route. On the way home, I tested the shortest time route and it was the "correct" path.
Re: 2003.5 sedan. Good deal???
On the other hand, one time on a trip to another state, I selected shortest time, and it gave me a trip WAY out of the way. You have to be careful and setup "correct" speed preferences. Otherwise, it made too much of an attempt to get to an interstate.
