An alarm with a mind of its own

Well yesterday I parked my car and locked it with the windows down (I don't know why I guess I like the lights flashing) and when I came back out I reached in and unlocked the doors from the inside because my keys weren't coming out of my pocket (again sounds stupid but keep reading) and when I opened the door the alarm went off and I got in and hit unlock again and it wouldn't shut it off. Then I locked it and then unlocked it and it wouldn't work then I used the keyless to unlock and lock and it wouldn't turn off and then I tried hitting the panic button to turn it off after all that failed I turned the car on and still nothing then turned it off and finally it shut off a few seconds after I turned off the car. Any ideas?

Thanks all

The alarm went off because the car thought someone was breaking into the car. All alarm systems tend to operate this way.

yeah, i've had it happen while i was still in the car, fumbled for my keys, locked the doors, unlocked it by hand and set off the alarm, my passengers were quite surprised, and i felt silly,

ELL OH ELL!!!

The alarm went off because you got into the car the same way a theif would've, you reached in through the window and unlocked the door without disarming the alarm. Pretty simple...

Well at least it was a matter of me being dumb and not any thing wrong with it. It just didn't want to turn off no matter what button I pushed. For future reference is there a way to turn it off when it does go off?

Sorry this post ended up being my stupidity...I am new after all ha.

You can turn the alarm off by inserting the key in to the door and turning it to unlock. This would be considered the "manual override" of the factory alarm system.
