Impound tips
Well I have been driving since 2004 in UAE and since that time (two cars - Corolla 2004 until 9/2006 and the G35 on) Ive got only 4 speeding fines (mostly 1-3kmph over the limit). 2 of them in the G.
Checked the traffic police website other day and I have to bring my car in before Oct for jumping a red + reckless driving. I never have done such and never will because of the 30+15 day impound, 20 black points (24 needed and you lose your license for 3 months) and AED 2800 (US$ 770) fine. I pretty much know why/who is framing me - that's for the court to handle.
Anyways, I was just wondering should a car be impound for 45 days, what precautions should I take? So far I have disconnect battery, cover dashboard with towel to prevent damage from heat, cover the leather seats, ill stick in my old jwt filter because of the dust that gathers from sitting in the lot, ill cover the front and rear windows with the sunshades + protect the car but covering it with a cover.
I have aftermarket rims with almost 23000kms on the tires but no wear and tear. I guess I might have an issue with the tires after the impound period since they are sitting so long?
Fingers crossed - I am fighting this nonsense!

Speeding for being over 1kmh the limit? Ouch. Impound for running a red? Double wammy. I can only imagine what happens to more serious offenders, like theft or defacing property...

So let me get this straight, you checked a website and it tells you if you've broken the law and if/when you need to bring your car in? Is that like the "honor system"?....they trust you to do it? Just sounds strange to me.
Damn, can't believe they ticket you for barely breaking the speed limit...that's nuts.

Sorry my bad I should have clarified. Speed limit is 120. You get until 129 and anything over that the radar flashes. So I was doing 130 last time around.
But yeah you either check the website or when you go to register you car every year they will impose the fine/impound period then.
