Quote: It would seem like you have better options selling the turbo. Especially cause the car is paid off.
I was also thinking about that, it doesnt even have 2K miles on it yet then I could keep the car because I would be able to drive it in the winter. I just dont want to put out more money to have it taken off when I spent all that money to have it installed lol.

Quote: as others have said, part it out and return it to stock.
As it sits, I'm thinking $17k, personally. I'm trying to take into account that busted front bumper, too.
I mean, I just bought a near perfect '04 X with 33k miles for $18,800.
So, stock, I'm thinking yours would be $14k-$15k, and I may be overshooting (wish I had my galves subscription info with me to confirm ... maybe I'll remember to check tonight)
Its not busted, the paint is off because something on the freeway hit it (before the turbo which I am happy about) I think mesh would make the bumper look alot better. I was going to buy that new bumper that came out but I am not sure if I am keeping the car. If I do I will def buy that bumper.

?
For those of us who don't know why can't you drive a turbo in the winter?

I think the nismo bumpers look better than the the new ones. I bought mine because I can't get a nismo for an 05. Is that Ttranks old bumper or did you cut the larger intercooler hole?

Drive (race!) to California and I'll help you remove it all

I still have my broken nismo bumper. It found its end when I hit a raccoon. Now its in two parts. If anyone wants to buy the parts and have it put back together and re-painted let me know.

There was a news story about a couple that did this on ebay... I think they got arrested (even though they said it was a joke)...

Sorry I took a while to get back to this.

So I just checked and I'm afraid it ain't good. Now, keep in mind this is here in the northeast and can vary slightly in other regions ... trade-in value on a stock '03 G35 sedan with 79k+ miles in good condition is $10k. That puts fair private party value at $11,500-$12k. Obviously, yours ain't stock, but what you can get for the mods is anyone's guess.

Utah not withstanding I know several gearheads driving american cast iron pushrodded v8's with the same rear turbo setup and the winter has never stopped them. Are you saying where his is located he couldn't? I don't see any problem on a properly cleared highway or city street.

Quote: My car does not get the best gas mileage these days either. If I can keep my foot out of it I can still get ~19-20 but I average ~15 most of the time. So I am looking into getting a cheap civic or something to drive to work and back.
I never understood that logic.

How exactly are you going to save money on gas by getting an ADDITIONAL car that costs money itself and insurance and gas?

Would it not be cheaper to just drive what you have...? I would

That is something to think about, if you would remove it all make sure my car is running well and buy the kit for a discounted price.

This turbo is rear mounted................... rear mounted turbo and snow do NOT mix

I had a shop just cut it out like Tims old bumper

I thought the front license plate cover came off.

Mine has some bolts right under the cover. If I take those bolts off doesn't the license plate cover come off?

Jeeeeeeeeeeez
Yes, the mustang, vette and truck guys drive in the winter. I stated above on a properly cleared road did I not? Everyone here that has commented just says it can't be done, but no one has given a real reason..........tell me why a rear turbo car can't drive in snow.

I emailed Squire Turbo Systems and asked them he same question and hope to have an answer tomorrow. I'm not trying to be a smart ***, I honestly would like to know the physics behind why it can't be done? Seems to me air filter location might be the only reason. So given that you have a sane location for it why not? Cooler denser air and better turbo cooling are benefits are they not? Do you fear using your turbo compressor as a snow plow when you have the entire car doing that before it gets there? I'll post what STS sends me, in the mean time what's the logic?

ALSO - STS claims 10 - 20 % better fuel economy with this system. Why has it gone downhill? Is it just advertising hype?

+1 it's a common misconception. The time it takes to recover money spent on a used whatever, plus insurance and everyday gas for the whatever, is still to be proven a worthy investment. But hey whatever soothes the conscious

To add to my previous post, I bought a 07 Honda shadow spirit (1100CC) last Sept and all my friends think I did it because of the gas prices. Let's see here $8499 for the Bike + $4oo a year for insurance + $9 fill ups in order to save an extra $5 it took to fill my car up back then I got "A" in economics but still I think it was a no brainer, IT WASN'T ABOUT THE GAS PRICES.
