A couple questions

I have a couple questions I'm hoping I can get some help with.

1. The owner's manual says that the brake fluid should be DOT3. Does this mean that DOT4 or DOT5 fluid should not be used/can have negative effects on the G35's brakes? (I have a G35 with VDC.)

2. Where can I get some stainless brake lines? What price can I expect to pay? How do they affect the G35's braking performance/feel?

3. How much horsepower does the G35's air conditioning use up?

Thanks for your help!

Scott

Re: A couple questions

1) You can go up, not down. DOT 4 or 5 is fine, DOT 2 is a no-no. However, DOT 5 itself, IIRC, is silicon based and can't be mixed with 3 or 4.

2) From any performance shop, probably. Search in the Tire/Wheels/Brakes forum. Look at TireRack, many of the sponsors to this website (with their banner ads), and my favorite.. Google. I don't know how much they are. As for performance, they won't make you stop faster.. but they'll give the brake pedal a firmer feel, and make it easier to modulate the brakes, since the brake lines can't expand as much.

3) Not enough to notice.
