door locks

Does any one's door locks lock on their own after a few mins of being unlocked? I have left my keys in the seat to do a few things only to come back with my doors locked lol. I think my car is messing with me.

There are other threads about this, I didn't believe them until it happened to me. The car is suppose to lock itself after you unlock and don't open the doors. In my case I was sitting in driver seat with the engine running. I unlock the doors, my passenger gets out to open the gate, she closes the door and the locks lock themselves a few seconds later. The fob was in the cup holder and I'm sure the outside button wasn't brushed...

I didn't even see it in the manual either. Usually I read it or google it before posting...it has locked me out a few times now. I just washed, polished, vacuumed, leather conditioned the seats, and waxed it, lets hope it cooperates a little more lol.

A side note...Twilight blue is a PITA to keep spot free. Takes more time to dry it then do all the other stuff.

For the 04 at least, the doors will only lock themselves if you unlock the door using the keyfob, and don't actually open the door, after 45 seconds the door will lock itself whether you're in the cr or not. Engine has to be off for this feature to work. If you unlock using the keyfob and actually open a door, it obviously cancells the feature.

"key points" unlocked door using keyfob without actually touching the doorhandles to open the door = Re-Locked door within 45 seconds

BTW: This is in the owners manual

This auto-lock feature works on my '03.5. Sometimes I would unlock all doors and the trunk, and get some stuff from the trunk first. If I take too long without opening a door, all doors would automatically lock after 45 sec.

then somethings wrong with mine, i'll unlock it with the fob get in it and then get back out and it will lock the doors. Sometimes it does it with the car running as that just happened to me yesterday. I'll just take it in.

Now some after market alarms have that feature enabled to do so if installed. If it is a used car, check to make sure it doesn't have the alarm still installed or partially installed, if not then

Yes you do. I have an 04 X and it is there. That is until you don't use the OEM Alarm anymore

Every G35 has with the stock alarm has this feature, notice i say feature it's supposed to help people that forget to lock their car. Not lock them out

I think you're confused on what this feature does. It doesn't automatically lock your car for you when you get out and walk away. Ok lets say you go grocery shopping, you get there, got out of your car locked it with the remote and went shopping, still with me? Good. Now you're coming back to your car with two full hands so you decide to press the unlock button on your remote before you are actually at the door, (that way you don't have to stand there with bags and fiddle for keys). Now if you do not open the doors to put the bags in your car within a 45 sec period, the locks will automatically re-lock themselves. Forgive me if you still don't understand, I broke it down as simple as I can explain it.
