I've got he opportunity to purchase an 03.5 6MT G, loaded, for about $23,000 from a friend. He doesn't want to deal with the hassle of the sale, and doesn't really need the cash.

Here are the facts:
Perfect condition
Loaded 6MT w/ nav, premium, aero, etc.
9k miles
Located about 5 hours away
Most G's in Vegas that are in the paper get advertised for approx. 2 days before they disappear, and go at an average price of $32,000

What kind of hassle would it be to transfer the paper work into my name, pay for the total sale, then flip it probably within a month? Worth the hassle to throw 9k in my pocket?

Check his maintenance records!!

Run the VIN number just in case. there's one service that does that for accidents and such. Then also run the VIN thru the dealer for service activities.

To give you a comparison on mileage, I am in L.A. Lots of miles to drive to exist here... average is 15 - 18k per year for most cars. I got my 03.5 at the end of last Aug., and I am at 8600 miles. I have also garage it for a few weeks at a time for travel, almost never drive it on weekends and it has spent close to a month (total time) in various garages having work done on it.

Sounds like it could be a good deal. Caveat emptor.

Sounds like great deal? Why is he selling it so cheap? In my opinion, not too sound too negative...If it's too good to be true then it probably is. What's his phone number, Maybe I'll give him a ring and just "test the waters"..Lol

 

Haha... well, he's a good friend. He doesn't really need the moolah, and just wants to get it off his hands without too much to-do over it. I've got a carfax account, so I ran the VIN-- nothing on it whatsoever. He also takes ridiculously good care of his cars, so I'll trust him when he says he's had the oil changes.

If it were someone I didn't know-- no way. Since I can go there and personally kick his a$$ if he's screwed me (and my parents will call his [img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]), I don't think he's trying to take advantage.

I thought briefly about taking his and selling mine to get the 6MT, but I can't bring myself to do it. We have identicle cars (color, options), except for the tranny.

Hmm do it if you trust this person and its true, I bid on a WRX Sti last night for $8k buy it now LOL yesterday, then I found out it got taken off ebay cause it was a scam hmm.. If you know this person and he is your friend and everything is true then do it..
