I dont think the 225 for the 8 will be a stretch at all but they 235 might be alittle for the 9 inch rear.

what is the advantage of going with a "stretched" tire? does it reduce sidewall flex in cornering? i don't see the tangible benefits for a street driven car.

plus, i'd imagine it would look rediculous and throw off speedo's & highway mpg...

are you sure he didnt say stagger?... 225/235 wouldn’t be a stretch even on stock 7.5 rims... I think you misunderstood Grant.

+1...

Think stretched tires look ridiculous.. Guys use 10 inch rims and then wrap them in a tire that would be effective on a 9 - 9.5... WTF?

I should first state that my "185" post was a sarcastic joke. Don't do it.

Secondly, "stretching" tires is dangerous as hell. Think about it. You're puting a tire on a rim that it wasn't made for. Essentially you're taking away the sidewalls ability to stretch and move under various loads and speeds. Basically, it's dangerous and it's ghetto. Don't do it. Put the right sized tires on the rims. Don't risk yourself, others, or your ride.

stretched tires are done because you can get more wheel inside when you don't have a tire sidewall to worry about. -6* camber and a 13" wheel with 245's=hot...on a big body lexus, NOT on a G.

Thats got to be it.... most of us drive our cars and understand that stretched tires is a bad idea. They must feel every little pebble on the road. If you do that in iowa your rims would last about 10 minutes.
