iPhone Placement???

I had the first gen iphone and sold it on ebay last month before I got my G. I'm getting the new one this week.

Where do you guys place your iphones when you drive??

I know, cup holder, i find that annoying as it scratches it, i am really **** about that.

I've seen people with proclips and other extension things. The 2.0 is supposed to have gps so I want a nice place to put it as well. Has anyone done any custom stands/holders??

Feel free to post pics.

Sorry no luck with searching. mods, posted here for more exposure.

I was actually thinking about this... I'm thinking about getting a proclip, but I'm not sure... Really wanna put it in the cubby with my GPS, hardwire a charging cable, but I think that would be more hassle than it's worth.

Although this one looks like it is complicated taking it off and on and the one above looks easier.

yeah, thats not a bad idea.. I'm just trying to figure out if I can make something to mount the phone in the ashtray... that way I can flip the tray closed when I don't need to charge the phone/listen to music

They haven't released a 3g dock yet, I guess i could use the universal dock adapter that comes with it, but I still need to secure the cable to something...

Any ideas?

you should line your cupholder with velvet for your fancy phone.

see, I use my cupholder for more important things, like gum wrappers!

I know someone made a dock fit in the ashtray, I just can't seem to find it! If I can get a universal dock which is small enough or that I can make small enough, I'll just do that.

Annoying thing too is that the iphone causes a lot of disturbance with speakers/radio, so you really have to think about where to place it.

When I sit in my office and bring the phone close to my computer speakers, it would give the disturbance through the speakers, more when i'm sending a sms or receiving a call.

I happens in my mom's tl too when i try to place the phone in one of the holders under the factory stereo. I think almost all phones do that.

i don't know why you would want one of those vent-attaching ones or suction cup ones with wires dangling everwhere, vs having a nice smooth looking one, similar to the one that is sold for the ipod.

What wires dangling everywhere?? I never had the need to charge my phone in the car, I just want a nice holder.

What ones are you talking about??
