5 AT Vortech S/C Ect. Installed
It is finally done and works good, that is the S/C that everyone said that COULD NOT be installed on a 5 AT Sedan. Have not dyno the car yet still up on stands having GL body kit installed.. S/C took about 14 man hours for myself and my son to install and have the car running. Built custom gauge pod on a-pillar and upgraded stereo, installed Tein flex coil overs, Stillen sway bars and dual exhaust. All work other than the painting has been done by my son and myself. Let the questions begin, as I do beleive this is the only Vortech Supercharged 5AT Sedan around.

Re: 5 AT Vortech S/C Ect. Installed
Congratulations Brent. I believe you may be the first. I don't know of any other AT Sedan with a Vortech SC.
How about a few pictures. Especially of the intercooler installation. Were you able to keep the actual bumper (aluminum bar) in place?

350Z Engine Cover, T-Stat & Air Duct / Stillen CAI
GG 7-Wire H-G Kit / TS ECM / E-Fans
Street Edge TC / B&M Cooler / Stillen Exhaust

SWEET! I'm glad someone put the kit on a 5AT. I knew it could be done with a little ingenuity.
For best results, make sure you custom tune the Split Second box using the R4 software. It's not hard to do if you have access to a dyno with A/F readings.

My question with relation to this is twofold:
1)Is the Automatic tranny capable of the stress from the extra power generated by the S/C? Reason I ask is with the Sentra's, the Auto Tranny couldn't handle more than about 190whp... though this is obviously a beefier tranny than that 4AT.. but still
2)Can you drive it in regular mode, or are you forced to only use Manumatic 100 percent??

1) They are using the same tranny in the 350Z and have had no problems so far.
2) I'm hoping that I can use the tranny in AT mode at WOT as I have had TS redo the ECU to 7100 red line which should give the tranny time to shift before hitting the red limiter. I have the Dyno booked for May 8th and will see how it works.
As for the pics I'm having a hard time sending them and they will not post in the forums or rides. I don't know if because file is to big or what. Any advice would be great.

Whats the average wheel hp gained with the Vortech system? How hard was it to install, and did you need a new hood (I remember reading forever ago that the Stillen S/C needed a new hood for the G35c/350z)
How's your gas mileage since you installed it?

Hey Guys
First of all, the quickest/dirtiest way to resize pictires is to download the MS PowerToys and use/install the included Imageresizer. Then, you just right click on the image and choose resize (to small/medium/large).
Now, as far as the SC - VERY NICE! Finally the AT's are out to play.
As far as the AT tranny not being able to handle power, this is a myth that for some reason is still lurking in people's minds. Keep in mind, the tranny is the Q45 tranny designed for at least 345 HP (+ safety margin). The MT was designed for this car to handle 287 (+ safety margin). The weak link in the tranny from what I heard is the Torque Converter - which can be improved for less than the price of a clutch replacement. Even if you don't, I think it will hold, as it is furnace brazed from the factory (rare for stock TC's). Of course you can break the planetary gears, but I have been told (no hard info could be found yet) that they are just as storng as the MT gears, and in our case potentially stronger b/c of the design HP mentioned above.
Enjoy your car.
Gurgen
(and NO, the vortech does NOT need a hood replacements, look at some Vortech/ATI pics, they are NOT root blowers)

Brent.. if you have MS Word, paste all your pixes into a document. then SAVE AS WEB PAGE
It will create an index.html file and a subfolder with a bunch of resized, web friendly pictures, automatically!
Cheers, ted
