Jack Stand Adaptors...

For those who use jack stands, what adaptors do you place on the stands in order to put under the pinch welds? Where did you get it? Thanks!

Re: Jack Stand Adaptors...

I don't use any. I jack the front up with the tie down hooks that are behind each wheel in front. Those are strong and will hold the car fine. The rear I just used the flat space on the bottom of the suspension near the tire where the spring sits on.

Re: Jack Stand Adaptors...

After an exhaustive search, I could not find true jack stand adapters like those listed in the big service manual (you can view this under Jacking Your G thread in the DIY section). It turns out that these adapters and their part number are not available in the USA, only in Japan. I did find a hydralic jack adapter which works well to jack up the car. Once jacked, I place my standard jack stands under the inner frame rails behind the front wheels for the front, or under the seat pan reinforcements for the rear. So far, this has been safe and has not caused any damage.

Re: Jack Stand Adaptors...

I spent a LOT of time searching these out. Though some links to products were provided as a result of my many queries on this forum, I could find nothing that would work - either the adapter didn't fit my stand, or the adapter didn't mate with the jack points properly. Here's what I did when using Jack Stands on my Sedan for a suspension upgrade:
I bought a box of shop towels and folded them lengthwise in half, and then in half again. Then, starting at either end, I rolled the ends toward each other until they met in the center. What I ended up with was 2 tight rolls with a cleave down the center. I placed this on the jack stand with the cleave facing up. Then, when I lowered the car onto the stand, the rail sank right into the cleave and the 2 tight rolls against the underside of the car. There was no grinding, no scratching, no damage of any kind - worked like a champ!
