I was disagreeing that if someone did happen to misshift once or twice, the shouldn't technically not be driving an auto.
MANY 5AT owners on here have been in manumatic & forgot they were (thinking they were in drive) and have redlined until the fuel has cut off, making the car hesitate (me included)....so does that mean that some of us shouldn't be driving a 5AT with the manumatic? I'm not trying to be a douche either...just being realistic.
PS - I'm originally from your area originally (somewhat)...grew up in Carmel, NY...now live in the Boston area.

Okay, now that we're all being honest here... When I was 16 or 17 and had my license for a year or so, I had an '85 Camry (auto) that I could use at free will (it was my parents car that they let me use) and would try to save gas (you know...when gas used to cost like $1.19/gallon ) by popping the car into neutral when going downhill (I know, dumb idea...I was a kid). Well one time when I did this, I accidentally pushed it into reverse (no joke). The car automatically stalled, all the lights came on and I drifted to the bottom and pulled off to the side (yeah, almost $hit my pants...not knowing if the car would start again!). Sure enough, the car started and luckily drove away! A few years later, my reverse was completely shot (yeah...no longer worked) but car drove great going forward! In college, my buddies used to have to help me at the gas station if the only open pump was one that I'd have to back into...it was quite amusing when we would have to do this.
