G35X - Brush with fame

Re: G35X - Brush with fame
The ATTESSA-ETS AWD is pretty amazing from my experience with it. Most of the time, it's 100% RWD on the freeway.
I took the GX out in a parking lot with about 2 inches of snow and a large puddle to try her out. Acceleration was decent as torque was divided towards the front. Hard braking behave as expected, continuing your vector while slowly decelerating. The trick I found in snow was to brake gradually to bleed off speed then aim the wheel and gas her slightly. The tires would then grab like claws and send you on your way.
When the snow thawed, it left plenty of sand around. I took a corner a little too fast, had to hit the brakes briefly (if I held the brakes down, I probably would've slid into the curb), then instinct had me yank the wheel and apply a little throttle. Lo and behold, as soon as I hit the gas, she grips and launches towards the direction I want. I had underestimated the AWD and overcorrected which launched me one lane next to my destination. The good news is it was a green light, so nothing was hit, nobody was hurt, and no animals were injured.
I apologize for the poor descriptions as I've had no formal training in performance driving or the like.
I do reiterate the need to test your vehicle in foul and fair weather alike. Find out the braking, cornering and emergency procedures before hand either on the track or in an empty parking lot.
Peace!

kysrsoze--the "usual suspect" was probably oil, as the AWD has been irreproachable until now. I am usually trying to find places to break traction just for entertainment, because of the velcro-like grip. (only on closed roads and by professional drivers, etc.... )
Mike- I agree that the system is great, and had I been going faster, I probably would have gassed it to swing the front end around. One of the beautiful things about the AWD is the ability to go into a corner much 'hotter' than in RWD, rotating the car with the brake, and nailing the throttle to have the front wheels pull the car around the corner. (exactly as you described)
The thing about this situation was it was only at like 5-10 mph! I really felt like I was ice skating, and couldn't believe that the car was continuing to slide so slowly towards the pole.

I can't agree with you enough!! If more people actually explored their vehicles' limits in various conditions, we would have better drivers and less accidents.
BTW Abadi, I didn't get out to chat...after making sure everyone was OK, I was embarrased enough to slink quietly off into the sunset.

Mike:
WOW! You guys are super-polite on this forum!
I take very little seriously on these forums, folks. I don't see what could have been construed as insulting, but thanks!
Information sharing is what these sites are for. One of the deciding factors in buying the G35 was the info found on this site.
