Mine does it too. i thought it might be the A/C clutch pulling in. its a hard thud and no grinding.... like someone bumped the side of the car.

That's likely the timing chain rolling across the tensioner with minimal oil coverage (cold oil is thick) on initial start up. It's a non-issue.
