New Mod - Keep bugs out of your radiator

I thought I'd tape some bug screen in front my my grills to see if it would help keep bugs out... it worked great!

now to make it more permanent. I'm thinking to cut the bug screen in the shape of the grills and fasten with zip ties... any better ideas out there?

Thanks, not worth the effort for me. A little bit of bugs won't hurt the radiator. Any other objects that will hurt it will do the same with the mesh there also.

I've looked through other forums before trying this and there's been a few sites that did studies of radiator efficiency and there is a significant impact when a large amount of bugs get stuck in the fins; their solution was to do what I did, and the results were great.

on a long road trip this might be worthwhile... otherwise, just hose it down when you wash the car... I'm in So Cal, so bugs arent that big of an issue (not enough for a specific mod)... I guess in some areas of the country this makes sense?

This would be ideal for us living in Florida since we have the love bug season in May and September every year.

next time, use BLUE TAPE. the ones you have, if they sit in the sun too long, it WILL pull off the paint when you're taking off the tape DANGER DANGER!

Yeah, I noticed it was really hard to remove from some spots... didn't think there was a difference since the material appeared to be the same; lesson learned. Luckily it was over clearbra, not paint

take the front cover off and use some 2-part plastic repair to add tabs around the vent holes in the bumper... then you can oversize your screens and just screw through them into the tabs...

at least that's how I'd do it...

I think that looks hideous...

A bug screen somehow secured to the stock grille would look much better IMO

If it's powder coated black, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference and the material is much better quality and would prevent bugs/rocks from entering.

Missed the part where you said "powder coated black" in the previous post... in that case, I think it will probably look really good!
