My wife and kids and I drove from Memphis to Nashville and back in 1 day, with the A/C on the whole time... about 500 miles total...

We got an average of 24.7 for the day and I was very impressed....

I've gotten 29.8 mpg on a trip from Atlanta to St. Augustine, FL with a fully loaded trunk (120lbs maybe) and myself/wife/son on board in the middle of summer. The grade is basically flat (slowly trending downward to FL). My average speed was around 65mph.

In the Kansas City region where topography changes from 500' to 2000', my highway mpgs are a more typical 25-26mpg. In combined driving (50/50), I'll see around 21mpg and that's not being extremely nice on the throttle (every entrance ramp gets a throttle blast). In mostly city driving, I'll see 18-19mpg.

My first long trip in my 6MT Sedan I got 32.3 MPG and confirmed it at the pump. I came on here and made a post and people called me a liar. Haha. Glad to see some other members with decent numbers. I just set the cruise control @ 70 with a few passes and such. I was impressed. But in my day to day driving I average 21ish.

Makes me laugh when I see all these TV commercials advertising garbage economy cars with around 150hp getting 31-34 mpg on the freeway. What a waste.

I get 27-29 on the highway with my MT6 sedan also.

What I wish we could do, is make 6th gear a LOT taller. These things run damn near as fast in 5th as they do in 6th so why not make 6th gear an "economy" gear.

My theory on that has always been that import manufacturers use shorter overall gears to 'simulate torque'... allowing the engine to rev higher with more ease, thus creating the snap sensation when you punch the gas...

contrast that to something like a corvette... which cruises in 6-th gear at 70 mph, at about 1500-1800 rpm... and can still snap your head back in just about any gear...

I do understand what you are saying though, once we get to highway speeds and just need to maintain, not overtake or accelerate... give me something crazy tall so I'm not turning 3K for hours at a time on a long trip...

anyone know if the sedan gets better mileage than the coupes? I also got good gas mileage on my trip up to boston. think it was bouncing between 25-27mpg.

In my opinion, in depends almost exclusively on the habits of the driver, not the differences between the coupe and sedan.

Given the same driver and the same technique, I would guess that each car would return similar mileage under the same conditions.

As noted in my sedan, decent mileage isn't exclusive to the 6MT.

5AT baby, it's real too.

My most recent trip I got 31.28 mpg, confirmed at pump... When I filled up my computer was showing I had an 800+ km range. I will try to hit 32+ this weekend when I make another 250km trip. And I have an 08 xs, which is supposed to be worse at mpg.
