Alarm goes off for no reason

My friend's 2003 sedan's alarm just started going off for no apparent reason. For the last few days it has gone off maybe 5-6 times. Is there a known problem with these alarms? I have tried putting it in valet mode but that didn't help. For now I just disconnected the battery while it is parked overnight. Do you think by disconnecting the battery the computer might reset the alarm? I would hate to have her have to take the car to the dealer since it is out of warranty. Could a low battery cause the alarm to malfunction?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

was it stock or aftermarket alarm? THis exact same thing happened to me the other day. I have viper alarm it kept saying my trunk was openng so I thought someone was trying to jack me. It went off 5 of 6 more times so i got tired of it and disarmed the alarm. Later when i got in my car to drive, the interior light was on (oneof them). Check all your lights that was the case for me. Good luck

Battery in the remote is dying. Probably sending a strange signal to the panic button.
