Like others have related, the OEM jack failed. I used it once on I-95 to change a tire and the car leaned and fell and had to get another jack to finish the tire change. Two months ago, I used my g/f 08 Altima jack to swap out a wheel. This is also a scissor jack but much better designed. For emergency use, I picked up an 08 Altima jack on Ebay for $15.

That's what plywood and 2x4s are for! drive up onto the plywood, then drive from the plywood onto the 2x4. That's what I used to have to do with my old car.

I don't trust stock jacks in the car for anything, my one on my old car collapsed first time I used it. If I have to use it, I go quick as possible and before I jack the car up I have everything ready to go soon as that wheel comes off....I don't trust them worth anything.
