G35 sedan Vs. Vette, Monte Carlo SS & 300GT

Thursday morning, the sun is shining, sunglasses on & music playing and I'm heading back from dropping my daughter off at day care. When Lo & behold there's a nice (last gen) Vette & a 3000GT in the lanes next too me. We're at a stop light (which is notoriously long) and right behind me I see a new Monte Carlo SS pull up behind me (no mullet). The light turns green and the Vette punches it, before I had time too even react he was long gone, but the 3000GT is trying too get in front of me. I'm at about 3/4 throttle and we're almost level up too the next light. The SS is too my left, I'm in the middle and the 3000GT is in the lane too my right. Light turns green and it was on. May I just point it, it was an open road at this point (speed limit is 65) and the guy in the 3000GT is looking across at me, giving me the nod. I punch it, we all do, and up to about 40 we're level, at this point the SS was falling behind, but I pulled ahead of the Mitsu by about a car length too the speed limit. At this point in time, I slowed down when LO & behold the SS can flying past me and the guy gave me the finger. Lol...victory is sweet..and before anyone gives me a lecture on racing, it was an open road and I obeyed the speed limits. I drove at about 40mph thereafter, but the guy in the Mitsu is staying right on me till we come to a two lane stop light. He looks across and rolls down in his window and asks me if the car is an AT or MT. I tell him At, he smiles , the light turns green and we're on it again....suffice too say I was about a car & a half in front up too about 60, and victory was mine. The point of this story is there is none, I just love this car and the fact that it performs. By the way, I swear too God that playing good music gave me at least 20-30 extra HP and the fact that my car was clean & I was wearing Prada sunglasses maybe an extra 15HP on top of that.

Not sure what the deal is on Monte SS's but 3 in the last month have tried to engage. Easy smoke for the G35...and very enjoyable. Giving you the "bird" does not surprise me....typical.

Was the 3KGT a VR4? Stick or auto? Modified?

Good run! My guess is the 3kGT was either a base model or SL. Twin turbo AWD would've been scary fast.

Must have been either a base model or SL 3000GT as the VR4 would have left you behind even in stock form.

I'm sure that the guy in the Monte Carlo SS was actually indicating that you were No.1, based on the crushing lesson he received via your G35. Sounds like you were driving south on U.S. 41, one of my favorite roads.

Re: G35 sedan Vs. Vette, Monte Carlo SS & 300GT

nice run, and a very interesting story.

my friend has a 91 3000gt sl 5spd, and that car is slow, we haved raced a few times and by the end of 1st gear i already have a car length and by 3rd 3-4 car lengths, and then into forth all i see are headlights fading far behind me. I think whenever we raced at the dragstrip he ran a 10.48 at 71mph in the 1/8th mile, and i ran a 9.34 at 79.6 mph in the 1/8th mile.
