Arg!!! Trunk release is broken, again!
Arg, I must vent. Just got home and tried to pop the trunk open and nothing! The last time this happened was Christmas with a trunk of gifts stuck inside!! I had the dealer fix it in Janurary, apparenlty a cable was broken. Now it is broken again, and I am 3 months out of warranty.

Nope, definately the cable in the trunk. I had just opened it 10minutes before it broke, and it is the exact same symptoms as the first time around. Neither the remote or the in car button works. The only way to open it is the anti kidnap pull tab.
So I got the trunk open and took out the lining, fiddled around with the electrical wires and it seems to be working, for now anyway, it is definately a electical issue. I probably will have to eventually replace the wiring.
Trunk Release not Working
I've had a similar problem with my 2005 Sedan. It only happens sporadically and I can't get it to do it for the dealer. The button beside the trunk won't open it, the key fob won't open it and the switch inside the car won't work....only think that "resets" it is to turn on the ignition and use the switch inside the car to pop it open.
It's unbelievably frustrating as it always seems to happen at the worst times like when my hands are full and/or when I don't have my keys handy (since it happens even when the car is fully unlocked).
Please post if you figure out the culprit. The dealer has lubricated the lock and pop mechanism, but that hasn't changed anything.

Don't you get an additional warranty on whatever work they do? I thought for some reason it was 12 months 12k miles but I don't know why that popped into my mind. Call the dealer, they obviously did not fix it correctly the first time.
