Re: gas door/lid wont open!!

You do have to unlock the whole car, all 4 doors, not just the driver's door. Are you hitting unlock on the keyfob a second time?

Re: gas door/lid wont open!!

I have the same problem with my 2004 Sedan, has happened a few times now, I took it in and of course it was working for them, hasn't done it since, but he said since it was working, he couldn't trace the problem, if it doesn't happen again soon, I am taking it in anyway and telling him it's been doing it a lot, I believe it's the solenoid right at the gas door, someone on FA had that happen and it was replaced!

Re: gas door/lid wont open!!

I actually have this problem this week. I just took it in to my dealer and they said there are some problems with the actuator of the gas door and they are going to order a new one so I can get it fixed next week. IN the mean time, they manually disconnected the fuel door from the unlocking mechanism so I can fuel up.

I wonder if there might be a TSB on this one, sounds like it's a common thing!

Well, mine is doing it right now. This is the second time it has done it. This time, however, I am on E with the light on. I'm at the library right now trying to figure out what the heck to do.

Thanks G35 Papa. And damfuka, Previa? Bite your tongue, dude!

Anyway, I ended up just going to the dealer. If I had had more gas, I would have just gone on home and tried to get to it from the inside and figure out what to do, but, like I said, I was on E. And if I couldn't get it open, I would have been UTC. Dealer charged 213.57. He gave me an O' so generous discount of 15 bux. That brought it just under two benjamins. (Hundreds are Benjamins, right?) This is the most expensive fill-up I have ever had. My faith in my car is waivering.

I had this happen, follow that link and follow the instructions. Happened to me once about a year ago, never had an issue with it since. Didn't have to go the dealer, just moved the stuck little white clip and all was good.

Maybe I'm cheap, but when this happened to me I just put some duct tape over the latch in the fuel door. The little locking bolt can no longer secure the door shut. Granted, it does not lock anymore but that doesn't matter to me.

Since I have a speaker box blocking the access to this area I added a line that I can pull on to open this when/if needed.
