I think i's gonna cost you alot more than 2 grand... I got hit and run on the rear wheel lip (not nearly as bad as yours) and it was $1700 to fix and paint!.

Re: This Is A Sad Day...

I am very sad to hear about your G. We all feel for you.
Literally a few days after I had my car in my gym parking lot, some dumb young broad was backing up from her parking space ( I assume to pull in straighter) and almost nailed me. She was talking on a freaking cell phone, and did not look over her left shoulder once! Luckily, I was going pretty slow and hit the brakes. I almost got out of the car and verbally throttled her, but I am sure the fact that I stopped behind her and glared for a few minutes freaked her out.
Then, just as I continue to go forward again, some older idiot broad makes a too wide turn down my aisle, and was forced to back up or hit me head on. At this point, smoke is coming out of my ears.
Sometimes, it just seems like they are out to get us.
Again, sorry to hear about your baby.

Re: This Is A Sad Day...

I work part-time at a body shop, in 99% of the repairs we R&R the parts with new OEM parts unless it's an older vehicle (3-5-yrs) when we use aftermarket unless the customer pays the difference for the OEM. (Insurance Company) (It's much cheaper this way, since it costs us more to pay the body man to use plastic).

Please make sure all replacement parts have the Nissan stamp and all parts "cut-in" (painted) before installation.

Always select a good shop that you feel comfortable with, use the dealership recommended ones as a start.

As a side note, you can expect 1-week downtime for every $1000 of damage if the shop is really busy.

Re: This Is A Sad Day...

Here's an update on my ins..

Spoke to the insurance agent and it seems that the girl that hit me has not reported yet...and she said they sent out a letter last week, and is waiting for her repsonse, if she does not respond within two days, they will send out another letter and wait for 10 days...if no response, then they will go off of what I say...

Well, this friday I'm gonna get an estimate...will post once I know...

Re: This Is A Sad Day...

My F-I-L's infiniti I-30 t was hit in a parking lot recently. A bit of a dent in the left quarter panel. The woman backing up says she didn't hear his horn. She said that she wasn't sure if she was going to have her insurance cover it or if she would just pay.
During his last conversation to her, she now claims that they were both backing out at the same time, so she didn't think it was all her fault. Just goes to show how some people can try to change the story to avoid responsibility. Hopefully my F-I-L's insurance company can tell who was at fault when they look at the damage.

Yep, I say always call the cops or security in a parking lot for an accident report. Never seems to be their problem after they leave. Witnesses too just to keep them honest.
