Considering 04 Sedan Purchase
Considering 04 Sedan Purchase
Found a 2004 G35 Sedan that I'm considering buying. Its $10k with 103k miles. One thing I dont like about it so far is that it's red.. I prefer black
Anyway, at 100+K miles you think this car can still provide years worth of driving? I drive probably 10K a year. I did a carfax report on it. It had one driver for nearly 4 years. Report says it was in an accident involving right rear impact two years ago and was sold at an auction last month. Pictures are on dealers site and it looks great. I hope to see it in person on Monday.
Input?
Thanks!

I just checked KBB buying from a private party and in fair condition, which means it has not been in a traffic collision, is 10,250. I would offer the dealer 8k and see if he goes for it. I would be very careful about buying a car the has been in a traffic collision.
Check your local Auto trader and Craigs List to see if you can get one from a private party that hasn't been wrecked.
FYI, I have been told KBB does not update very often. If you can get a dealer on here to give you the latest info, it would be more accurate.

Check out kbb.com or edmunds.com & put in the options the car has to get an accurate price. $10K is a great deal IMO.
I just ran thru some assumptions for you & prices below range from $12.8K for trade-in, $14.5K for private party and up to $16K for dealer retail.

i dont think 100k should be considered as a lot. now these days cars last way longer then before + infinti vq35de engine has been number 1 for 10 times in a row. they dont use timing belt, nissan use timing chain which you change at at least 200k miles
Another website that provides car values is www.nada.com a lot of banks and credit unions use this when considering loans.
^^how is that cheap? 103k miles...that a gang load...$10k sounds about right

Guy asked for opinions...I gave mine. Could be a perfectly good car; I just think the "good deals" typically come with a catch.
Have it thoroughly checked out by a mechanic, call a local dealer and see if they can give you insight into it's mechanicial history. It was in an accident, may have been nothing, could have been terrible. I see these types of deals and move on personally. Others might not.
As for the mileage; if it was taken care of very well, it shouldn't be a problem. If not, you might be in for a boatload of problems with little things like engines, transmissions, etc.
Obviously, do what you feel is best for you.
You defenitely need to do a title check. If it is coming with a salvage title it is not worth 10k.
I appreciate all your opinions. I'll definitely get a pro to check it out.. I'll let you know what I decide.
Thanks again
