Raced a Motorbike
Well I ended up againt a motorbike yesterday at a red light, I knew he was going to race as he kept revving his engine, well he beat me by a few feet but hell it was fun up to about 70mph which is when I started to catch him but the lanes merged.
It so happens that he lived in the same estate as I did so I followed him back and later we talked, he had some kind of bmw but not sure which model.
I asked if he wanted to race me again in my vr4 but he laughed and said no.......oh well, would have been a nice video

Re: Raced a Motorbike
Here comes the flamming, but I am going to say it anyway. I am also going to preface it by saying that these guys possibly weren't racing, but I don't see why not. Please let me explain.
1st Scenario (several months ago): I was driving home from work and had some jackass on one of those extended drag racing bikes driving all over the place without a shirt acting tough swerving and stuff. I finally of the few cars that were on the road and start catching up to the bike. He was going like 80 or so and I slowly passed him. I got maybe 3 car lengths on him (not yet racing) and I saw him take off, but I was ready with nitrous bottle open and the system armed. As soon as I saw him jump, and punched it. Ironically, he couldn't gain on me. I know the nitrous gives me a bunch of extra power, but I'd figure any bike would be able to take me (I know it is a definite *** whoopin if it was from a start, but I figured they would kill me even from a roll). When we went up to about 150 and he couldn't gain anything on me, but he stayed about 3-5 cars behind me. I figure that he would try to pass me if he could. Not sure what kind of bike it was since it was a custom racing bike, with custom paint.
2) Just happended today: It looked like a GSX-R 600 or something similar, maybe a ZX (Ninja) 600 or something very similar. Not sure exactly what it was. I was leaving the house for work and was just about to get on the highway when I saw this guy. I got in front of him and turned on the highway. I puched it (no nitrous) starting about 30 mph. He quickly caught up and stayed on my tail, but didn't pass me, I just think he was showing that he could hang (like i thought he couldn't). Well, I kept accelerating and at about 100 I started pulling on him and pulled on him up to about 150, where he still seemed like he was trying because after I realize he was quite a ways behind me, I shut it down. Then a few seconds later he came flying be me like a rocket. Since I top out at about 155 or so, he would eventually beat me, but it seems like I beat him between 100 or so to 150. Is that possible?
I used to own several bikes and pretty knowledeable about the performace of cars and bikes. I previously thought this would be BS if someone else wrote it, but know I have two times, where I came out on top.

Re: Raced a Motorbike
im sorry but there is no way a g35 can beat a sportbike. i don't know what your car runs with the nitro but i have a gix 7 and i was running mid to low 11s all day at the track and i suck at it. the real good guys with liter bikes were running mid to low 10s and some high 9s with extended swingarms. i think the new 600s run low 12s to high 11s. im sorry but the horsepower to weight ratio is just too much in the favor of bikes i mean less than 400 pounds with 140 hp compared to 3000-3500 pounds with 300 hp. i really don't see it. the cars that i have seen that have "stayed" with a bike were twin turbo vettes, single turbo supras, and twin turbo ta cranking out 650-700 horses.
alot of times there are cars that want to race me that just go flying down the highway and i stay behind them so when the cops tag us he will get pulled over instead of me. just because i don't pass him doesn't mean he beat me or he has a faster car.
don't get me wrong the g is a great car and i would love to own one but it is not the fastest car out there and please do not overhype the cars thinking that it can take a bike. this is a g35 board not a ricer board. point blank there is no way a g35 can beat a bike unless the rider is a complete and total squid rolling around with no gear and just wanting to look good.

Re: Raced a Motorbike
That's what I was figuring cause I used to smoke almost every car when I had my bikes. Just wanted to bounce it off others.
But please keep in mind, the people doing 9s, 10s, and 11s also take off a hella lot faster from the start and that's why they kill most cars. I would never even remotely think the g could take a sport bike from a stop even with heavy mods, but because of my two situations, I was starting to think that we may have a chance with at least to hang when racing starting at around 80mph. I have a 150-shot giving me about an extra 130 to the wheels. Like I said, I would have never even thought otherwise, but the last two experiences started making me think.
I have raced tons of other bikes from like 30mph or so and got killed (like I expected to), the couple times I raced starting at high speed, I haven't had anyone hand me my ***, but that could be because the people I raced might have been uncomfortable going that fast.

Re: Raced a Motorbike
Almost any currently available liter-bike is capable of 175+mph - some with minimum tweaking can flirt just a tic under 200mph. The 600cc sportbikes are good for around 160mph or so...
There's a manufacturers' "Gentlemens Agreement" to limit top speed (electronic application) to 300kph/186mph... with which, so far, all have complied. This was, in part, a reaction to what began to look like a "top speed war" when the '99 Suzuki Hayabusa clocked 193-198 in stock trim... followed by Kawasaki's big Ninja Z12-R that could get up there.. well, almost as well. These bikes were in answer to Honda's '97 Blackbird (CBR1100XX) that ran consistently at 175mph...
So, don't get too worked up about any G35 running with (or trying to..) these kind of bikes.

Re: Raced a Motorbike
I used to own a '94 CBR 600 - I remember one time I was cruising along (65 mph or so) and a 5.0 Mustang came flying by. I punched it and caught him and proceeded to walk by him. Now, at the time I was a little dissapointed that I didn't fare better, plus the fact that the speed it took was ridiculous. You're right, some people don't want to ride that fast, I know I didn't (after the fact).
Because of my experience, I'm not surprised by the above stories: I think nitrous on the G could turn the tides on a high speed start. However, the liter bikes do have more go power and probably aren't as humbled by this level of car power. I've found that my RC51 does quite well on the go - hard to beat the torque of a 1000cc twin!

Re: Raced a Motorbike
Sorry for not posting earlier, it was an older model as it took it's time to get up to speed but it seemed to run out of speed in the higher rpms, he was def. racing but I only heard him change gears 4 times up till 70mph. Now I know newer sport bikes are quicker than most cars and have higher top speeds but even they can be beat in a fairly modified car, I have raced many in my mitsu. and have beaten them up to 120mph and then later talk to them as they are completely confused on what just took place.
Anyway just wanted to post my first race in my G as I rarely race in this car but it was such a nice day.

Re: Raced a Motorbike
i used to ride a 03 cbr600rr, and now im planning to get a g35 sedan/ coupe pretty soon, like in about a month or so.
i found it funny when you said he shifted 4 times to get to 70mph, because on my bike i dont need to shift out of 1st gear until 70.
so the bike u had to be racing is a 250 cruiser or that kawisaki 250 "sport bike" and they are very slow....or maybe a 500, but def not a 600
now to the guy that have a 120shot of drug, i really donno how fast your car is, but i hope you can easily walk on 911 turbo, vettes z06 or vipers, cause those are all the cars that i beat on the freeway 80- +/- 140. i really donno how much nos does for this car, but im sure its not how they make it 2f2f.
but all in all, good luck on your "kill"

Re: Raced a Motorbike
Yeah I never said it was a sports bike, just a motorbike as I know very little about bikes, it seems that people make their own conclusions but that's normal, not going to hate on anyone because of it.

Re: Raced a Motorbike
Not sure why I can go to 155+. That is without the nitrous. I never had an issue getting stuck in the 140's. If you live in South Florida, we can go for a ride. If you do a search on the forums, you'll see many others get up around the same speed. Not sure why or if its a year thing.
