I've been reviewing the suspension threads, but I didn't really find any one answer to the best year for 350z springs. Which year offers the best improvement to handling and overall looks of a lowered G?

Springs will give you better look and a different feel, but they will do absolutely nothing for handling unless you've dumped your car that much. And even then it's still bad...

Its not which year offers improvment, its which year 350z spring rate matches your g35 sport susepnsion spring rates. Its either revized 350z springs or un-revized. I think you need revized 05+ 350z springs, this way the spring rates will be pretty close and you wont blow your struts, if you are keeping stock G struts. You can find a full set up from any 350z will low milage and just swap spring and struts. And all this is in the suspension treads

I can't understand all that retoric, I need someone to break it down shotgun style for me. Seriously, if I called the dealer and asked about it, would they be able to clue me in? I'd love to do struts, but I'm pretty sure that's going to be out of my budget unfortunately.

Yes, this is my first G35, and basically, yes, the first vehicle that I'm really looking into making modifications to the suspension, body, engine, etc. I've seen a lot of great things that you guys have done to the car, which have really changed the look to be more aggressive, sleek, improve performance, etc. It's such an aggressive, sporty, well built, fun car to drive (especially in a 6mt) that the thought of making some mods to it to further improve how this car handles, drives, accelerates is really enticing. This car may turn out to be my "corvette" in the garage since I won't be able to afford one in some years, if ever. The G35 6mt offers everything I'm looking for in a car. So, some mods to improve the base platform are definately something I want to do. Thanks again for your help guys!

i run a k & n drop in and z-tube... it a nice setup! But the pop charger sounds better... i wont be dropping the money on a pop charger until i get an aftermarket exhaust (might not then lol). other wise i think its pointless... plus you get about the same gains... if not better if you consider heat soak, since the jwt is basicly open in the engine.

Has anyone just dropped the front of their G35, and not the rear? I was curious if just dropping the front would cause any issues with handling or ride? In looking at how my G sites, I think I like where the rear is, it's the gap between the front wheels and the fenders that I think needs to be reduced. Appreciate any input! Thanks guys!

I don't think you want to do this. I have a 350z H-Tech drop and it dropped my front but not my rear (or hardly). It looks raked and terrible. I am looking to buying coilovers at some point because I can't stand how bad the uneven 350z H-Tech drop looks.

as for suspension you will want to do a full swap. For the 2003/2004 setup with sport suspension you can use UNREVISED springs. I'm not sure if they revised the G35 spring rates in 2005. They did the 350Z revision in 2004.5.

I recommend the 350z suspension swap for the sedan. Full 1" drop and it closes the wheel gap nicely.

Some people have been known to use the coupe struts/springs on the front and the 350z springs/struts on the back so that they get .5" drop up front and 1" drop in back.

Me, personally, depending on how much you are going to spend and whats important for PERFORMANCE I would start with:

#1) JWT/Stillen CAI
#2) Exhaust (can break this down a lot more explicitly, pm me if interested)
#3) 350Z suspension
#4) Sway Bars
#5) plenum spacer/MREV2 (needed for 2005/2006 with spacer)
#6) High flow cats or Test Pipes
#7) Headers

for LOOKS:
#1) Suspension Drop
#2) Rims
#3) Clear corners
#4) HID upgrade to hotter color
#5) LED swap for running lights
#6) body kit swap (side sills, bumper, rear/front valences(

AUDIO/VIDEO
**This is always my first upgrade in a car. I can't handle a bad stereo**

Just a few ideas of mine. Happy to talk more if you need more assistance/ideas.
