Recommended Mods/Upgrades

Barring any issues with the loan/title process, I'll be the new owner of an '05 G35 6mt sedan on Friday. It's black on black with the premium package and a sunroof.

There are a couple of mods I know I'll be doing right away: K/N drop in filter, windows tinted, and it doesn't have a rear spoiler - so an OEM rear spoiler. My hope was that you guys could provide some feedback on what you recommend as good mods/upgrades that "every G35 sedan should have." I know there have been numerous mods posted, I'm looking for some direction on which mods a new g35 owner should choose. I like the looks of the clear corners, and maybe the Wilwood BBK brakes also. Thanks for your help guys, it's greatly appreciated.

personally

Honestly, to set that exterior off, I would go with
clear corners,
leds in the clearance bulb(tiny bulb in headlight),
leds in clear corners,
led in rear plate
, lowering springs or coilovers,
nice staggered rims,
oem front lip,
and I would definitely keep it wingless!

Most off the better looking sedans are either wingless or have m3 style lip spoilers. Also look into debadging the rear apart from the infinity logo in the center of the trunk. Also depending on exterior color, painting the grill and inside shroud of the headlights black looks really good. My car is an 04 but basically has everything listed above except instead of the oem front lip, I have an aero/nismo kit that is only available for 03/04.

A good tint and drop goes a long way.
The longer you own the car you will notice things that would look better painted etc. It should come to you. But yeah the stereo lacks everything so if thats an issue you have a lot of options to play with.

This what i would do,
Dont get the K&N drop in get real intake, Stillen, JWT, etc they come with decent intake tube(ztube)
Dont get wing spoiler go clean and shave your emblems off also, maybe taillight overlays
Do get tints recommend
Do upgrade your suspension, if on a budget get springs(oem 350z/coupe will do) if baller get coilovers(Tein CS is good choice)
Do search and read the FAQs

Really guys, thanks for the replies. More replies are certainly welcomed! I would like to lower the car, but can I do that w/o having to roll the fenders? I would have to say, the M3 lip looks really good - clean, simple, sleek. Seems like a good choice! Thanks again guys!

First off, there is no Nismo kit for the 05-06 sedans... you can't get it to work without changing the headlights, grill, and hood at the least. I personally do not like clear corners unless you've cleared out the amber light in the headlight assembly too... IMO looks too ricey, especially with a white bulb inside.

Second, the M3 spoilers always look nice in pics, but in real life, you will see how awful the fitment is as they are made of urethane and must be heated and bent to fit. But yes, the stock spoiler is hideous.

To the OP, you have two options for a front lip - OEM or Klumzyee's Ings replica fitted to the sedan. The fitment on that should be good. As for a spoiler, the IS300's spoilers fit the sedans very well too.

If you're looking for performance, the short ram is a very bad idea... heatshields are worthless... they may help as a barrier between the hot metal parts and the intake, but the hot ambient air can still be enough to give you heat soak. If I didn't have the Relentless strut bar, I would keep my stock intake box without the resonators. Nissan actually did a great job with R&D on parts like that.

If you're looking for coilovers, I would suggest JIC VIP over Tein CS (I don't like Tein's struts). The only downside to this set-up is that you won't be able to get the controller. If you want handling, get sway bars, maybe endlinks, struts at the least and tie bars (I don't think I need to mention good tires - that should be obvious). If you want your car to handle like it's on rails, also add the Relentless strut bar (group buy going on now, after, you might not ever be able to get this again), tie rods and tie rod ends for much better turn in response (and more oversteer depending on how you set the suspension), along with some even better tires for more traction.

Not sure why but alot of people associate lowering with needing to roll the fenders.

If you lower the car, you will NOT have to roll the fenders. Rolling the fenders has to do with how close you get your after market (or non-standard OEM...i.e. Coupe OEM rims) wheels to the fender.

Now, get a loan out on the house and spend all of it on mods for the G!

happy modding

Again, thanks guys! I just read a thread on 350z springs. If I did want to just go with the z springs (I have the sport suspension), is it just a matter of changing out G sedan springs with 350z springs to drop it 1". Doing this, even with 3 people in the back, wouldn't cause any rub? This too would help handling? I am definately interested in the sways too.

yes its a matter of just swapping springs, if you have sport suspension your sturts will hold if you choose the right year 350z springs. No it will not rub on stock wheels. if you decide to change wheels and tires the offset will detirmine if you will rub or not. What Papa said!!

I know that stillen or JWT dont give you major gains but the look of aftermarket intake and sound make it my choice to switch from stock.

Get sway bars and do them at the smae time with springs this will save on install time and maybe cost(if not DIY)
Everything else if what YOU want to do. There are tons of options it depends how much you want to spend and what you are going for. GL

what is the matter with a drop in? there are many threads that state a simply kn drop in and z tube can be the best performance out there. and much better than jwt and stillen and such when you factor in heat soak. now if you mean for sound or aesthetics then thats totally different.

Never said anything wrong with it, in my OPINION I like the JWT or Stillen intake. You might be right with a K&N and z tube you will see a 1/2 hp gain over others. I would rather run OEM filter with Ztube. Just my OPINION lol
