Talking New Owner - 04 G35x - Advice and help needed.

Hello all.

I have been lurking since before the purchase. I needed a nice but inexpensive fun car for the wife. I found an 04 G35x with 36k miles on it. I know I need to replace the inside air filter with an "active one" think original owner was a "car smoker". I have also been looking at a drop in K&N with a pipe....suggestions? Last but not least, had an issue with the TPMS but inflated to 33lbs and its all gone.... on the G35x is there special issues to look for if upgrading to 18" (05+ stock rims) or any shock/spring combos? And Finally the last question for now... 04 brakes. with almost 37k on em, advise on what to do with these brakes. Thanks in advance for all you help and I love this site!!!

Regards,
W.Lee

I would get the Z tube but stay with the stock drop in filter.

No problem putting !8" wheels on your X, you can go bigger but keep the same size rim and tire front and back. I ran the 05/06 18" sedan wheels on my 05 X and was very pleased with the look.
Sounds like your Tire sensors are okay now.

I agree I went from a heavily modifed 99 Regal GS (miss the blower whine) to my 05 G35X and I do not miss the regal one bit! Nice upgrade congrats on the purchase.

Got the filter installed, thanks for all the help in the DIY videos. Need to look at the main air pipe and a drop in next.

On the 18" wheels you guys would recommend the 2 sets of the 18" coupe wheels or just try to find a complete set of factory wheels for an 05 to 07 awd sedan?

If you don't mind non-OEM, this is where I got mine for ~$30 shipped:

http://www.amazon.com/FilterMaster-A...8719761&sr=8-1

The vendor is Sunpentown, located in SoCal. Ordered Wed night, received on Sat in SF via USPS. There was a thread somewhere about Filtermaster Filters, do a search if you want to read up about it.

Yeah, the Grand Prix does torque steer like CRAZY

There are a couple Pontiac's that aren't FAIL though
