free suspension mod

I dont know if this is true so I thought I would ask. I know this can be done but I just didnt think not to this car. So my friend has a turbo'd 350z its pretty nice foose wheels etc. I saw it pretty low the other day and I asked him what he did. Well he took out the springs and cut them and put them back in to lower it 2 inches. No camber kit needed. I asked how it drove he said you really cant tell a difference from stock.

So my question is this to you guys. I cant afford to lower my car what so ever. So If i cut the springs no more than 2 inches... by the way according to him if you dont go more than 2 inches you wont need a camber kit. Will it ride okay and will there be any problems. Or will it be a rough ride and have problems down the line.

I just thought this was for honda civics but I really want my car low so bad and his Z looks great lowered on 20 inch wheels. So if it would turn out good for me I would like to try it.

Your friend is wrong, it will need camber kit and his tires will be ****ed in few weeks. Cutting springs is not a good way to lower your car. It will ride like ****, your friend is lying when he said his car rides like stock with 2" cut springs and 20" is total BS

Also if you want to lower your car, I assume you have sedan, swap stock NON cut 350z springs with your sedan ones and they will lower your sedan 1" all around, no need for camber but good alignment is recomended. Search this topic in the suspension section. And punch your friend for being a ricer

I couldn't agree with you more.

PS - used springs go for $100-$150. Assuming you were going to uninstall, cut, and reinstall your stock springs, then I assume you can install after market springs. Do the labor yourself and save $$$. Cut back a couple bucks a meal each day and you'll have enough money to do it properly.

Cut springs change the spring rates so much it will ruin the ride and handling. It will change the camber of the front and back to the point that you will wear out your tires in no time. You will have to put a "Camber Kit" front and back.

New springs cost less than $200 in most cases and you can change them in an afternoon. If you stay with an inch or less of drop, you MAY get by without camber problems (I did). You will be money ahead for going that route. As for the wheels, let's see a pic before we pan them.

Also the stock shocks won't be able to handle the new load, get ready to replace those very shortly after you cut the springs.

If you can't afford springs the WTH are you doing living in Vegas AND driving a G for?

Wow, I didn't realize that people still cut springs. There are so many options out there that are cost effective so no reason to do this anymore. I just picked up a set of stock G Coupe and a set of Z springs for $65 shipped. So now I have different options and can get the drop that I want and still use OEM stuff.

I have the stock "Sport" shocks, it will be a year in December. No leaks or malfuntions so far.
