G35x over Audi if so which one
I am an avid Audi driver but I think my next car will be a G35x I just do not know much about them. My options are either a 2005 or a 2006 unless I can get a crazy deal on a 2007. I could use some help determining which model year preformed better and what options are a must have when purchasing a infinity. Any help will be much appreciated.

i have recently purchased a 2005 g35x... i got it over a wrx sti limited, audi S4, and bmw 325ix. Infiniti has the best bang for the buck in my opinion. the G35x dosent feel like its awd at all... it drives like a rear wheel drive until you push it to the limits and its awd 25/75 front/rear during a standing still start, it puts the RWD version to shame in handling ability.
I got prem package C (you know you have the C package if you have a full sized spare in the trunk and upgraded sound system), which is highest package you can get on the X trim (there is a prem A,B,C)... there is no sport package for the X.
The 2005 and 2006 are basicly the same car... 2006 just adds more radio features like blue tooth and has bigger brakes. (im looking into replacing my brakes with the 2006 brakes. the 2005 brakes produce alot of dust) the interior is the same also. The brake dust would be my only non nit picking complaint about the 2005 g35x.
OK price, i found a 2005 G35x with 18K miles on it and paid $23k after taxes and fees (car was listed at $21k, when the blue book vaule was $24K). i couldnt past that up since all the other 2005 and 2006 G35x's i found had 35k or more miles. I would say the average was 45k. Im not discouraging you from buying a high milage G35 because from what i hear and see, a well kept g35 will last past its warranty. Which is another reason i got my 2005 G35x over the other cars i looked at.
Speaking of warranty any 2005 or 2006 G35 is still under warranty if it has less than 60k miles (4yr/60,000). That also gave me peace of mind in buying my G35x.
i have had my 2005 g35x since aug 4th 2008 and it still impresses me everytime i drive it. i dont think you can go wrong with a g35x.
my car is slightly modded now, and drives even better:
K&N drop in air filter $45
stillen Z-tube (replaces stock intake tube) $65
SBD Grounding kit ( a must have!) $120
Synthetic Oil $65
my gas milage is ~26mpg highway and ~17mpg city with my slight mods.

Thank you very much for the input it helped let me show you what i am thinking about getting.

My parents know the owner of the dealership so no matter what i get a 2 year full warranty and pretty damn good deals on cars. My current audi needs some work so I might call up the dealer and see what he can do.
Oh one question if the car comes with a 2 year warranty and i do any mods to it will the warranty become void?

wow nice.. i was looking for a black G35x also... but i settled with gold cause i knew i couldnt beat the price and low milage.
After market parts wont affect your warrant unless they are the cause of the car to mess up. like if you put a turbo or super charger on your car and blow the engine... it wont be covered. Mild stuff like intakes and exhaust shouldnt cause the car to mess up and wont void your warranty. As long as your are under warranty i wouldnt mess with anythig on the car that has to do with emission control. (like the cats or reprograming the ECU)

Most Audi's now have extremely low ratings on consumer reports, Edmunds (and with most foreign car mechanics I've spoken to) with respect to reliability and dependability. Most European cars (I own a 92 Volvo with >250,0000 miles) manufactured in the last 10-12 years now rate as among the lowest in the world! In general, a 10 year old Lexus, Infiniti or Acura has greater reliability than a brand new European car (Volvo, Mercedes, Audi, Range Rover, Saab, etc.) according to consumer research over the past 10 years.
I'm not down on European cars and you have to also know that they still set the standard for excellent driving experience. I think the issue is balancing what you want in a car with what best fits your criteria.
I would Ignore most of opinions here, research is gathered from 1,000's of reviewers-- much more reliable- for the above companies that do car reviews.
Audi's are sexy, beautiful, fast, drive extremely well and established an a poor to fair reputation 20-30 years ago.... for those who know cars well, they're viewed as overpriced and mechanically very poor. While they are used by many as a status symbol (as many G drivers do with theirs), there has been a huge problem with reliability and dependability.
Finally, if you like being on a first name basis with your mechanic, if your mechanic has given your car a name like Sophia or Janet, if the shop has named a door after you, if you like having a mechanic on retainer......... and if you like driving a red 1990 Ford Taurus as a loner while your car is in the shop week after week- by all means by a Mercedes or most any other European car.
Much better options now are the Lexus, Infiniti and Acura lines, all of which have received Consumer Report, Edmund's and numerous mechanics who deal in foreign cars, the highest ratings..... contrast that to most European cars and the data will give you everything you need to know.

I used to be a part-owner of a VW/Audi garage and now have a G35 6MT, not the X. Although I'm not at the garage anymore, I still love VWs and Audis but I've grown tired of the expense to replace parts that CONTINUE TO FAIL.
I was considering a 2005 S4 when I was looking for a new car. The 4.2 in that car will rarely fail, but many other items on those cars will break, be replaced, and break again within a year or so. Plus, the S4 felt heavy and cumbersome when you wanted to drive with a bit of enthusiasm. For a 1.8T A4, that's acceptable; when you have 340hp and AWD you expect it to come out of corners quicker.
I bought the G because it's a car that not a ton of people know about. The interior isn't first rate, but since I'm now working for a display/exhibit company I have access to some materials to remedy that.

Thanks for everyone input due to the fact that i just moved down to northers VA I have to wait till the friday after thanksgiving to pick up my new car a 2005 g35x for $20,779 from an infinity dealer. From what I gathered the dealer still owes 22k on it after the lease ended from the initial owner. In any case I also got a loan from the dealer at 4.9% i could not find any banks that would come any where close to that.
Step 2: Get the Car and drive it home.
Step 3: Find some mods.

I picked up my ride last thursday and I love it. I really like the way the 2003-2006 g35 handle compared to the 2008 which I almost bought damn dealer gave me a crazy deal $30,900 18miles prem package wood and trunk net. With my trade in I was looking at about $450 a month... But I like to go out and party to much and that extra $200 a month would really cut into my club money.
