Help Help Help !

I went to a dealer yeasterday but they said that they didn't know what I was talknig about. Hopefullyoe of you can help me give a more specific description to dealer...Here's what's happening. Everyday when I start my car, I put it in reverse to back up. Right after I put in reverse, there's a loud "CLICK" sounds coming from engine, and sometimes once I tap gas, it clicks again. Then when I put into drive and press gas, it clicks again. Sometimes by evening, when I park and drive, this "click" isn't there. Can someone explain what this could be. It's really annoying, and I'd like to get it checked out, to avoid any future problems...Thanks in advance!

Mine will click sometimes going from P to R in the mornings, pulling out of the garage.

I just figured it was normal; just a little cold first thing in the morning. Mine doesn't do the other noises you mention though.

Lotsa folks have had that issue including myself, I think my mechanic at the dealer just tightened the rear axle and told me it was very common. Search and I'm sure you'll find someone on here who experienced it

Search for "rear axle click" and you'll come up with plenty of results. There's even a DIY fix posted by one of us members.

Limited info here so all we can do is guess. The sound may be coming from your tranny and not your engine or differential. Sound travels in cars and I've had to use a stethoscope to track a noise that i thought was coming from one side while it originated somewhere else (sort of like a leaky roof where the water travels down a beam before it forms a pool 10 feet away from the hole). The sound disappears once your tranny fluid warms up, which may be why you no longer hear it in the afternoon when you get home. If it's the tranny, a low fluid level may cause the clicking sound. Check fluid level using instructions found here and in 100's of other similar sites.

If fluid level is correct--- my advice, drop it off at the dealer (if still under warranty) and tell them you won't pick the car up until they've fixed it. Describe problem, give them the keys, tell them you'll call back in 48 hours and then walk away. The dealer will reluctantly let it cool off and then see if it repeats itself in their hands. Dealers do not like frustrated customers making scenes in front of prospective ones.........................bad for business!

You're hearing the sound where it enters the cabin. It really sounds like the "rear axle click" TSB that came out a while back.
