What is with some owners?

After a long day at work, looking forward to my drive home. The ride is spiffed & ready for action.....
Sun is shinning, got the SR open, some good tunes going & enjoying the seat time.
Ahead I see a fellow G, & make my way through traffic to catch up. As I get there & get ready to give him the thumbs up; I see the ugliest, dirtiest thing on four wheels. Looked like it hadn't seen a wash since winter, the wheels were so black from brake dust I don't think they would ever come clean.
I pulled up along side & figured I'd at least wave hello, but this guy was in a different world, totaly oblivious to me beside him.

I just don't understand why someone would buy such a fine set of wheels & then treat it like crap.

Ok, Ok rant over......

Re: What is with some owners?

For some of us, spending $30k+ on a car is a ton of money for which we must work. For others, it's chump change. If you didn't work your butt off for it, you're not as likely to take good care of it. I once saw a G at the gas station (silver originally, I guess) which was a dull grey due to dirt, covered with ugly stickers, like Calvin pissing, with all the wheels road-rashed and a back seat filled with crap. Painfulto look at...

I'd argue the opposite in some cases. I try to take care of mine, but I work so much that I don't always have time to keep it sparkly. The zaino makes the washes pretty easy though.

But a calvin sticker is too much! You should have ripped it off.

My buisness partner has some nice rides. NSX & 2 Lexus. He has absolutley no time to care for them, in fact he is amazed that i wash my own.

This weekend I was over his house and saw the poor shape the NSX's paint was and forced him to at least take it for a full detail.

Well I think in spite of the cost to some,.........it's just a car that get's them from point A to B. And as a group we're so much more into our cars then others IMO.

It hurts to look at some of those rides, but as some have said b4, not everyone has the time to spend on them.
I'm glad to see that most here do make the time to keep their 'special' ride sparkling. It deserves at least a little attention.

Re: What is with some owners?

Mine isnt always as clean as it should be, but I try to keep up with it. I used to was my cars once a week when I lived in an apt, but after buying a house, and rental properties and trying to keep up with everything, sometimes the car has to wait....

Re: What is with some owners?

Maybe this guy just put 2500 miles on this G travelling across US.

I haven't had a chance to wash mine in 3 weeks, looked ugly, thank god it is silver. Now I washed it and can't take my eyes off it.

Re: What is with some owners?

Sounds like my neighbors. The wife bought a G35 right after she complimented mine. I think her words were “oh, I saw that at the auto show and it is sooo beautiful.” They wash their cars once in a while, but they’re simply not enthusiastic about cars, it’s just another vehicle to haul their kids in. In fact, the husband has never even driven his wife’s G. Different strokes for different folks I guess…

Re: What is with some owners?

I wash my car once or twice a week and still can't keep it clean because I park outside and the morning dew just kills it once I'm on the freeway.

Re: What is with some owners?

the thing is that not everyone has the time to wash their car. Mine has needed a wash for a week. It still has bugs on it from last weekends road trips. The thing is that we are traveling again this weekend so really whats the use.

I still have some free car wash tickets from a local car wash but I refuse to use them with my G35. Last time my SHO was there I wasn't impressed with the end result.

I agree, not everyone has time to wash their car. I try my best to keep my G35 looking clean & polished, but sometimes other priorities have to come first. Lucky for me, Desert Platinum is good at hiding dirt. I think the worst problem I've had so far is with brake dust.

Re: What is with some owners?

I also have many times when the car is not as clean as I would like it.
But, what really gets to me is seeing a nice car on the road that has not been cared for & the owner obviously could care less. The car that propted my post was absolutely disgusting.

Re: What is with some owners?

For some folks, a car is just a means of transportation, even if it is a nice one.
