Just replaced my air filter and i have a question.. Does the rubber hose from the engine go over the plastic teeth of the piece pictured below?

 

No. The picture is correct.

 

the "rubber hose" you reference must be the intake tube?... if so, that slides over the collar on the other end of the item in the pic which is the MAF (mass air flow sensor) housing (the end facing you in to pic bolts to the air box) - the edge of the intake tube will butt up against the few raised portions (I presume what you referred to as teeth)... tighten down the hose clamp and you're done.

(my digression): I just love my g35.. It exceeds all my reservations about infiniti vehicles. Having to own pretty much hondas and toyotas, my g35 simply truncates my previous cars, including my acura cl type s and lexus sc400.
