doesn't the timing reset after a couple of restarts... going back to the based timing written in the ECU....

no it doesnt. if there is knocking or pinging, then the ecu will go back
once it goes back, do you need to do the same process all over again? or will it go back once the knock is gone?
i've heard the cyrper software does this as well?

typically it means you have more power to the rear wheels....a quick fix of springs, wider wheels and tires help cut some of this down after serious mods like FI.Originally Posted by Lucky-G

I don't think he was promoting wheel spin as an indicator of what you want for better performance/acceleration #s.

the dealer will do this for free... at least Tustin Infiniti did for me yrs ago... I have Cipher now so can do it anyway.
To the question about the ECU not holding advanced timing - it does not change.
BTW, advancing timing is not so amazing.

It’s very common, easy to do, and doesn’t give amazing gains (I’d describe as minor to moderate) – it’s a standard part of any performance tune. 2 degrees of advanced ignition timing is almost as basic as running premium gas – it simply isn’t “an amazing mod”Originally Posted by Mmagic76

This isn’t meant to hurt anyone’s feelings – but advanced timing isn’t new, amazing or worth $25… and it’s been discussed a million times.
When someone reads a title like the one in this thread it sends a message… in this case it ended up being a bust.
i'm not exactly worry about the performance part, its more of the possible .5 MPG gain or w/e i can get thru that i'm trying to go for. right now i'm looking at 17 mpg city/highway driving so ANYTHING will be better
but from what i understand this goes bring you like 1whp. all my cars i've always moved the dizzy up to the highest spec.

i know its not really "amazing". i meant for the price, you cant go wrong with it. sorry for the amazing part. i guess i will call it a fair mod for $25. i
$ per HP should be the same as most other bolt-ons
$25/ 1whp timing
$200/5-10whp for a spacer
$150/ 1-3whp (if any ) for ztune/ pop charger
but same thing as getting a tune.. which nets you a little more and it better for the car.
