I guess it was my time...

... 80MPH in a posted 65MPH Max freeway...

oh yeah AND NO LICENSE PLATES hehe although I have none on my G... I guess I should put the rear ones on now...

I got this ticket in Pasadena at 9:40PM... this is my first ticket.. does anyone konw howmuch it will cost??

OH YEAH and for Yr of Veh and Make/Body style it says:
2003 Infinity G35 2DR CP SIL01

?!?!?!?!? first off he spelled Infiniti wrong, secondly it says 2DR CP... Does this mean TWO DOOR COUPE?!? If so, I drive a sedan.. is this grounds for ignoring the ticket? *wishful thinking*

..pestilence..

Re: I guess it was my time...

I think it is. My coworker got a ticket dropped on his 69 Toyota Landcruiser, because the cop wrote "Jeep Wrangler" on the ticket.

If not, it's gonna be a few hundred. I got an 80 in a 65 on I15 two years ago. Do the internet traffic school thing if it's available in your area. The DMV should be mailing you a list of approved traffic schools.

Your ticket has a chance of being dropped. Because he stated your car wrong. I say TRY it. No point in paying for the ticket that on that paper says it was for someone else hahaha... Unless he got your DL and LP info already =P then you are practically F#*ked.

Good luck on fighting it. If not, traffic school sucks, but keeps it off of your record.
Just don't get any more. Your insurance will screw you.

Yeah.. 18 months until you'll be eligible for traffic school again. Get another ticket before then and you'll definately lose points from your license.

Pesti, on the serious side, I work in the legal field, that is grounds for dismissing a ticket in most states. I do not know the statute in California but I would contest it. Or at DMV speak with one of the Administrative Law Judge's about contesting it. My wife used be one thats how i know.

Godd luck!

Re: I guess it was my time...

In Cali.-traffic school only removes the point count on your record. Its does not remove the violation. Please remember this for your insurance purposes. If you have a ticket and its three years old it will still show on your printout as well. Some "major"violations show for 10 years. I see DMVs everyday and hear the "I went to school,I'm clean"-your points are clean not the record itself. Pesti its going to show...sorry

Re: I guess it was my time...

All this US/Cali ticketing system sound kinda strange to me. First of all, you guys don't get a dollar amount of the fine on the ticket right away when cop issued you the ticket? Isn't there a chart to match the fine with the violation? Secondly, what's that traffic/driving skule thing you guys were talking about? You mean if you get ticket, you can chose to go to that kinda skule to sort of balance it out for the insurance purpose? Oh man, that's kinda stupid, pretty much just paying to air brush your driving record. I hope those skules are government run.

In any case, I would fight it regardless if they had any information on the ticket right or wrong, unless the speeding is less then 16km/h, which means no points will be taken and the fine is only $40 here in Toronto. Just by showing up at the court, I can expect the fine and the points be deducted, the question is just by how much.

Re: I guess it was my time...

Ouch! Remind me to avoid Pasadena (I assume CA, not TX). Up here in the Bay Area the left lanes of multi-lane freeways are usually 75+ except during commute hours when the speed drops to 7.5-. I fact, returning from Carmel several weeks ago the traffic was moving at 85+ on 101 and 880 for many miles.

Coupe vs. sedan in court? Try it! Best of luck.

And pesti, how long you have been driving with no license plates whatsoever?!! You know you could probably got away with only 80m/h (it's only like 128 km/h right? ) had you had any license plates on...

Re: I guess it was my time...

Stalker, in the US they offer the opportunity to go to traffic school to keep the point off your driving record (at least as far as insurance is concerned). Basically, it's 8 hours of going through the drivers hand book, watching movies on safe driving, and trying to stay awake. It is totally useless - to the point of wrong information being given. Most people do it for the insurance reason. As stated above (at least in Cali) you can only go every 18 months.
Also, the fine is not posted on the ticket. The DMV sends you paperwork stating what the fine will be, if you're eligible for traffic school, and how to go to court to fight it if you want.
Hope that helps.

Re: I guess it was my time...

thanks for all the input guys..

I will look for a traffic ticket lawyer.. howmuch do they charge? and how can i find one?

tomii350gt: well when you get pulled over here they get your license and registerstion reguarless... so he has my DL# anyways.. you sign the ticket, and take it.. if i refuse to sign the ticket i think i get arrested or somthing.. AND i diddtn wanna point it out to him then.. he might have corrected his mistake..

dknibb: administrative law judge? is that the person who I take my case to court with after i get my ticket normally? THen it ell him about the typo the officer did and my pleed to void the ticket?

stalker: :> yea.. never put plates on my G... have had them for months now.. but i just wanted to start out with the customized ones i guess.. just being stupid.. if i was smart i would aput em on..

..pestilence..

Re: I guess it was my time...

Hm...that driving skule systems sound kinda cheezy...do you guys have to pay to go ?

I never bother to get a traffic "lawyer" if you wanna call them that...here in Toronto, there are bunch of those agents made up by ex-cops to fight the tickets for you, but I won't bother after seeing how things operate in a traffic court....they usually only promise very little and charge couple of hundred bucks for it...after fighting 2 tickets for my wife and 1 for myself, all I had to do was showing up, and get a plea with the prosecutor before the session starts, and the plea usually is already good enough for most people to except ( reduced fines, lower points or even no points ). I saw those so called traffic lawyers showed up, and all they did was exactly the same as what I did, lined up and got a plea, except they took whatever they got at first without any furthur negotiation...man, I would make a lot better traffic "lawyer" to my clients then those useless punks
