Bay Area, CA - authorized shop? Busted Seat Slide

The slide/motor are shot on my drivers seat (2003 G35 Sedan). The motor still works but the seat goes back only on one side like a captains chair. Can anyone suggest a reputable authorized nissan/infiniti shop/mechanic to replace it? Dealership wants $1600 .

Thanks,

Bug

Get some new seat rails/motor assembly and get to it with a wrench!

I've been thinking about that, just a little nervous about the airbag system. It's all integrated into the seats. Have you done this before, is it as simple as remove and replace?

Thanks,

Disconnect the battery and leave the doors open/lights on to clear any current running through the car and then disconnect the air bags. I had to disconnect my passenger side airbag when taking apart my dash for a stereo install. My seat exibits a slight back and forth rocking under certain braking situations and after reading a bit I think the seat rails are the culprits.

Although that inspires some confidence, I really want to find a step by step procedure. The dealer told me I could do it too, but to be careful that I didn't knock myself the !#$!#% out witht the airbags. I'm mechanically inclined, and a mechanical engineer and capable of fooling myself I can do it, just don't want to pull an 'oops'. He did mention that pulling the battery cables wasn't enough.
