wierd!! car running without key in ignition

Ok dont know if should post this here or not but the craziest thing happened to me today. I parked my (2004 g35x) at mcdonalds, locked the doors with remote that has key connected to it, walked in got a drink, came back out, unlocked the car with remote, sat down in car to notice that it was running!?! The radio was on, the climate control was on, and the engine was running. Before i could even come close to pushing the key into ignition it shut off. Then I was like maybe I pulled the key out without turning it off but no the key-slot was in the correct position for being turned off.

Anyone have any ideas? I did searches on here and on google without seeing any other occurances like this.

-Alex

Oh and i did buy this car used so if there is a remote start I have no idea but still dont see how it could work without remote.

You either have a Aftermarket alarm or someone installed a turbo timer but no turbo lol check under the hood maybe there is one there........

You def. have an aftermarket remote start. The receiver may have picked up some frequency.

ok! thanks for replies! it just happened again bout 30 minutes ago. a friend was d d driver and it started before we got into car! I know he hit the lock button on remote twice before realizing to hit the unlock button twice. I am gonna let the car sit for a little while then go back out and try the same sequence as he used. when he stuck the key into the ignition it turned off!

do the parking lights flash on and off? they're supposed to do that if it's running via a remote start system.

try putting the key in without touching the brake. 99% of remote starts use a brake-sensor to kill the remote start. That's pretty cool that it's wired in with the factory stuff though...

yeah if i hit the brake it kills the engine. must have not thought about that when it happened at mcdonalds cause hitting brake is instintively something we all do each time we get in car.

But yeah sweet discovery in the least!
