Key Question

I have one Key and and a friend who longer has a G gave me a spare in hopes that it might work with mine. Problem is the Key seems to be cut differently and will not completely insert into ignition. Can this Key be re-cut by the Dealer and as well as reprogram to work with my 2004 G35X?

It's been cut once, so highly unlikely it can be recut to match your current key. There could be a chance his key has more high spots than yours so it could be cut down, but chances are it doesn't.

You really need a blank key.

NO.

If he did give you the key and remote, you may be able to get one of those switchblade keys and reuse the remote board + transponder chip only. THE BOARD AND CHIP WILL NEED TO BE REPROGRAMED THOUGH!

They will laugh at you if you try to recut your friend's key into yours.

Ok, thanks for your help everyone. I really need to buy a spare key before it cost me way more when i have to put her on a flatbed to the dealership. i have an extra FOB i keep at work which would do me no good if i lock the keys in the car while at home. Probably pickup another Fob too...
