Air intake?

Hi guys,

I have a 06 G35 Sedan.

Thinking about getting Injen air intake.

Anybody have suggestions or recommendations?

How about Stillen?

Thanks, appreciate your comments and help.

First you need to make sure you post in the correct section to get responses. There is a sub forum specifically for intake and other engine mods. Second there is a FAQ thread, on the top of the 03-06 sedan sub form, that addresses this issue. Last you only get a few hp (mostly for noise) from an intake so I would try to meet up with someone with the intake you are looking at so you can listen to their setup.

I am letting you know the above info so you are not flamed on this forum. Don't be surprised if this thread is locked and deleted.

I have tried several, I have the NISMO Cold Air Intake (long runner) now, sounds unreal. However, none of them really added any power. The cheapest and best route for you is a Z-tube (air tube from a 350Z) and a good K&N or Fram Air Hog filter for the OEM box. The Ztube will give you that sound you crave (OEM tube has a sound dampener) and the High Flow Air Filter will give you a little more HP. You can get the whole thing done for less than $150.

Honestly the intake does more for you car as far as noise rather then HP, my fujita intake sounds beastly.. but it only gets loud after 4000 rpms.. so u can cruise and the car will still be as quiet as stock.. also there is a nice whistling sound for a split second when you tap the gas.. are you in the Jersey area?

I had a Stillen CAi on my car for a year than switch back to stock airbox. I noticed when I switched back I gained a little more torque back that the Stillen lost. Now I am awaiting a 2007 rev-up OEm air box.

Good advice, you can go with K&N drop-in (I have this now) or Amsoil dry filter (switching to in future) which does not require oiling like the K&N.

If you aren't successful checking the classified as TwilightBlue mentioned, Stillen sells a z-tube for 58 bucks.

People that go to aftermarket intakes generally end up with a loss in torque. This is due to heat soak, which is prevalent in the engine bay. Long tube intakes do not work well with the VQ35DE. If you are going to go aftermarket (and I HIGHLY recommend it) you should think about using some heat wrap to isolate the intake temps. The jwt pop charger is awesome, but the heat shield doesn't really keep the temps down.

R2C is another choice. I don't know if anyone has tried it yet. Similar to the popcharger, but the heat shield looks like it has a little more coverage. Here it is available for $140. https://www.upscaleautomotive.com/p-...initi-g35.aspx
