2003 G35 Sedn Sirius Installation - Am I being ripped off on price quote?
I am the happy new owner of a 2003 G35 sedan. I have searched on the forum and I have a pre-wired sedan, according to the serial number. It is my understanding that I just need the Sirius receiver to be hooked up in the trunk and the wire to the antenna. I called an Infiniti dealer an they told me I needed a headunit, receiver, antenna, and labor that would cost nearly $700.00. I was expecting a little over $290 for the receiver, about $50.00 for the antenna, and then labor. Is the $690 too exorbitant?

It's the dealership, of course it's going to be expensive. The wiring connections are very simple. Hook the SAT receiver to the amp in the trunk, then the antenna to the SAT receiver. After that, the problem is mounting the receiver, antenna placement, and running the antenna wires. IIRC, the instructions go through the entire install. When I used to have XM. I just mounted the antenna on my rear deck, and tucked the wires away nicely. They provide little fasteners and misc. items for a clean install. Worked well, minimal drops in coverage. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, it should be a pretty easy install.
Buy the parts and DIY.

Thanks for your replies. I have ordered the parts from the Infiniti dealership, but will probably go to Best Buy for the installation, depending on the price for labor. The part receiver was $325 and the antenna and cover were about $50-$75. I had the antenna installed on my Maxima on the deck in the back window, without issues. I am thinking of doing the same thing with the G35. By the way, the guy at the Infiniti dealership in the parts department wanted to argue with me about where to have the receiver installed. They do the install in the console by the radio, instead of the trunk. He also insisted on the complete VIN number, when I told him he only needs the last 6 numbers and that my VIN was high enough and the inside of the door had the sticker, indicating that the car was pre-wired. There is only one Infiniti dealer in my area and the Nissan dealership I checked said to contact Infiniti. Thinking back, I should have ordered the parts online.

I got the parts from the Infiniti dealer and had the installation done by Best Buy. It cost me a little over $60, and the Infiniti dealership wanted $200 for installation. I have a2003 that is pre-wired with the Boise system, so the mounting was different than what I have seen online. It was mounted in the trunk, but underneath the deck that holds the speakers and amp in the back window and not in the bottom of the trunk near the spare tire.
I finally feel comfortable with my car with the Sirius installed!

I was cat napping while waiting for the installation, so I didn't see everything. Like the other poster wrote, the guy just removed the upper lining in the trunk to expose the amp. The Sirrius unit was just plug and play. It is my understanding is that most G35's have the mounting location in the bottom part of the trunk near the spare tire. I would assume the XM unit is plug and play.

you might have to search for the best price, but here is one on amazon:
I'm not sure where people usually mount them, I just found under the center console to be easiest since I had to remove the console to pull the stereo out anyway (unit plugs into the back of the stock Bose stereo). Plus, then I could run the wires back up under the console and into the cubby hole above the stereo where I mounted my NAV.
