There seems to be a gap on the slot under your plate on some bumpers and some dont. whats the deal...

GAP

No gaps.

I have a 05 with a gap, i figure maybe that the 05's have a gap and the 06's dont. Because these are clearly a 05-06 sedan bumpers...

The gap is for the AWD models. It allows more airflow to cool the front dif.

If you look at the 07+ models, it's the same thing. Gap on the AWD models only.

I think it looks ugly, but luckily my car is black so you don't notice it at all

PS. I'm not a fan of any of those grills on those cars. Kinda ruins the front end IMHO

yep X models have that extra gap. IMO the RWD bumper looks better.

As stated, only on the X G35s.

Edit: Where is it on the 07+s? Our 08s sport front bumper looks the same as an 07+ Sport bumper

I'm pretty sure it's in the same place in the 2nd gens. I remember seeing it in the same place on the x's in the 07+'s

very interesting, ok follow up question... there is a insert that goes into that gap. does it have a specific purpose or is it just trim?

I'm missing the insert...

I don't have an insert in mine. It's just a big hole.

Unless you are referring to the trim around the outside edge.

The "empty slot" is there to cool the front diff on the X models.

If you look through it though, it doesn't even seem like a straight shot to the diff
