OC Problem but you are not original owner

Hello,
Possibly picking up a new to me 05 6MT sedan with 54300 miles on Saturday. Just wondering if anyone who is not the original owner of a car with OC problem has had difficulty with Infiniti? The owner does not have records of all oil changes performed. They are not aware of an OC problem with the car, but I want to be on the safe side.

If I discover the car has an OC problem, would I be out of luck since I do not have the complete service history? I have been reading the threads on this and I have not found a definite answer on this.

Thanks for the info!

Good question. Since the TSB has a recent path for "no history", I think they are being more lenient on the need for records now.

I just bought a 05 6MT with 24k miles. I was able to get documentation on my own from "Quick Oil" in Chicago, where the owner took it for oil changes at 12,900 , 18,200 and 23,360 miles. Still have to get info from Infiniti of Houston where the car was purchased (I hope they have a few more oil change records). I figure that should be good enough.

Talked to Infiniti service advisor where the car was originally sold and has been serviced. Lucky for me the service history is well documented through Infiniti. Service Advisor said that I would not have a problem proving car has been serviced correctly. One more plus for this purchase.

you should have no problem with them doing an OC test. take it to them and they will most likely do your next oil change before they start your test to make sure everything is at the correct levels when they start.
