Mystery squeak - compression rods or something else??

When I hit a bump and my wheels are turned, I hear a loud squeak that sounds to me like a very squeaky bedspring. It's particularly noticeable when the car is cold - i.e., turning out of a driveway after work. I've read the numerous compression rod threads and of course I suspect it could be the bushings on those, but the fact that the wheels being turned have to do with when I hear the squeak make me wonder whether it could be something else that I'm hearing. Is there anything else that I should consider?

nope...it's the compression rod bushings...remember the sound isn't something failing, it's just an annoying sound

I just had my compression rods replaced because I was hearing exactly the same kind of noise in the same situation. The dealer replaced them under warranty. Squeaking is gone now.

Did you have to push the dealer to replace them or were they happy to do it? I am concerned that it's going to be a hassle to get them to replace those.

If your car is under warranty still, it should be no hassle for the dealer. Remember, when you buy the car, you're also inadvertently also paying for the warranty (like an insurance policy).

No pushing at all. I just told them about the noise and when I was hearing it and they took it from there. I would have pushed the compression rod issue if they would have come back with a story of not being able to replicate the noise. I don't even think they test drove it, just replaced the rods.

Definitely b-2-b. Don't know about powertrain - is the suspension considered part of the powertrain? I'd guess not.

no suspension is not a part of your powertrain

I asked my dealer to "check them out" and they said right away they would just replace them regardless. They were aware of the TSB. Cool.
