Painting trim to match body color
Painting trim to match body color
Hi,
I've seen a few 03-04 Sedans with painted skirts and lower front bumper. I am going to do this also. I noticed the bumper has a little lip/guard at the bottom. My question is....when painting the lower front bumper, would it be best to paint the whole lower portion including the lip/guard or not? If you guys can also post pics I would appreciate it as well.
Thanks...

the topic has come up in the past... most ppl would (have) suggest painting it - others prefer to cut it off entirely… however, best option is different bumper I like the Kurookie – some prefer Nismo
There was a thread a while back with pics - probably in this section (or possibly picture share of sedan section).

Funny, I was about to post the same thing. I was staring at my car, as it sat backed into a parking space in front of my storefront, and I pondered the exact same question.
I think I will end up cutting it off. It just tends to drag on things...

dont remove it. the bolts will be exposed and it looks awful. i got my g without the lip. previous owner scrapped it on something and it ripped off. hated it and looked awful since all the bolts underneath can be seen

Definitely love it! It gives it a lower and more clean appearance.
that little black guard in front your talkin of, DO NOT PAINT! if your leaving it on its a guard and gets scratched up when you hit a bumperstop in a parkinglot if you pull too far forward. If you paint it you will eventually prolly scratch it up so leave it black so its less visible, just paint the bottom of the black front bumper though.

Nice. Thanks for the input guys especially to Distinctive G for the pic. I appreciate it.
I'm gonna get the painting done soon and I'm not gonna bother painting the lower lip of the bumper. It's true that it does scrape a lot so I'm not gonna do it.
Once again, thanks a million!

I thought I posted the other day...guess I missed the "post quick reply" button.
Anyway, Distinctive, thanks for the picture! You've just given me the "nudge" I needed to make me get my sides painted. I really didn't think it would make a dramatic difference, but it does SO much, and it's so subtle at first, and then it hits you like a ton of bricks! Very nice looking car!

thanks for the input guys! Havent gotten to know or cruise with any g owners in my area... which kinda sucks because im always looking for shows and cruises. Most people cant even tell my lip kit was color matched...
For me it was practically free to get done...heres why...

This dumb bitch (in reflection) hit my car last year. When i got the estimate to get a whole new bumper, I just got the money and had them paint the lips all the way around also. I think it was 75 bucks a section...so 300 for the entire lip.
So as you can see i made good use of the insurance money, and came out ahead.
