running staggered tires with the X minus the fuse

I just picked up 350z track wheels and they are 235/35 and 265/35. I have a g35x, i did the tire calcautor and it shows up total diameter being 24.5in and 25.3in.

Understanding that the front wheels are going to rotating more then the rear I think this is enough to trigger the AWD light. Tread on these tires are about 50% so maybe i'll run 2 summers with them.

My question is if i pull the AWD fuse should i be ok in terms of the mechanics of the car? Or is the diffrent so little that i should be able to drive it with the fuse in? I know there is SOME level of tolerance. Rather then waste money on getting proper tires now i figure i can wait and use the rubber thats on already.

One last question when i get the same sized tires most likey 235/35/18, would it be dumb for me to rotate the 8.5 wheels to the front and have the 8.0 in the rear? I figure you should always have the widest wheels in the primary drive wheels. I'm looking for a someone to trade either the 8.5 for the 8.0 or vice versa but chances are slim on that for now.

The primary drive wheels on the g35x are the rear.

Pulling the fuse doe's not eliminate all power to the fronts. I had my car on the lift and tried it. I did some research and found that these cars will always be awd from a stand still, and will transfer all power to the rears at approx. 12 mph.

Those tires are small, your speedo will be off. Get the wheel and sell the tires. Then you can get 245/45 all around or you could try to go with 225/45 f and 255/40 r. Those are closer in diameter.

actually correction on tires they are 235/40 265/40, running non-staggered or staggered tires isn't a concern for me at the moment. I'll look more into that when its my time to buy tires.

if there is a way to run these and not mess up the car then i'll do that for one or two summers. if there isn't then i'll consider it, I'm trying to work with that i have now.

not worrying about the speedo part but the drivetrain.

Not sure of the tire sizes but the coupe 19's with there oem tires will activate the AWD light meaning their is a problem. I believe the rolling diameter was about a 2 inch difference. With that I bought a set of all season 19's 245/40 all around

if the stocks threw on the light then these will almost be for sure. i'll grab some summer tires but i'm still thinking of what i want to do with the tires now. I wont make 1/2 of what its worth selling.

Sorry I didnt answer you pm, was busy all day at work. If you put a 234/45 on the front they will be both the same rolling diameter at 26.3 which is the same as stock so speedo wont be off.

Z guys are always willing to trade their fronts for you rears. I did this with my old maxima. That is if you are willing to run all 4 18x8s.

Does the owner's manual mention anything about tires? I think it says to replace tires as a set for awd cars? If you are within a few percent, you might be able get away with it. Or else I think you would be tripping the VDC

what size tire was on the 20's, see if you matched them to a same rolling width you wouldn't have a problem.

i'm going to put them on tomorrow and expect to see the light and drive to see if anything stupid happens right away.

So i've been playing around with the numbers and i've came up with this idea.

STOCK tires are 215/55/17
Overall Diameter: 26.31 in

The 265/40/18 in the rears
Overall Diameter: 26.34 in

235/45 would be
Overall Diameter: 26.32 in

225/45
Overall Diameter: 25.97 in

235/40 ( what i have in fronts)
Overall Diameter: 25.40 in
------------------
the 235/40 is what will throw everything off.
So i should either run 235/45 ( like luimpia said ) or 225/45 ( easier to find since its stock Z tires)

Would the 265/40 in 8.5 +35 give me problems when i lower on Z springs? I plan on doing it in the summer.
