Never had Tokicos. Never will. Everyone I know that's run Blues or Tok adjustables on their Hondas, Maximas, Zs, Mustang Cobras, Vettes, etc. has had them wrecked within 15K miles or less. The word at the auto-X/road race tracks here is Toks are hardly a step above OEM and basically like a low end KYB shock. Konis, Bilsteins, and some upper level Tiens are pretty much the way to go in terms of proper valving, rebound, and reliability. Gotta pay to play.

Comparing Tokico Blues to D-specs is like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus.

I'm sure you're right that the G and Z part numbers are different. And yes, the Z housing are shorter. I'm just saying Tok Blues, across all makes, have a tendency to blow/fail going lower than 1.5".

Dave, you mentioned twice the "cost" as being a deciding factor... "pay to play" and "you get what you pay for"...

How much are the Konis you are running?

See I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I'm also running koni yellows all around on my X, and I just said F it and set all four on the softest setting and called it a day. I got tired of the firmness. I can't imagine what it would ride like at the stiffest setting. Might be just a Koni yellow thing, by the way mine are matched with H&R's.

I'd tend to agree. But when I asked the vendor here to comment on the valving, they went "they are better" was the technical reply I got

In all fairness, I haven't read of any complaints for the D-specs here or on the Z forums. Gsedan seems to like them and we all know he's the suspension *****

Then take it to PMs. If he wanted to get technical about it, he could say "how could you refute it as you haven't run both?" But that's neither here or there. So since both have you haven't run both, it's

There's a motel 6 down the road.

I've drag raced, road raced, spirited street driven and casual hwy cruised with them... and I have been very pleased. They are super versatile and handle great.

I like you; I've noticed no complaints about them from other users.

wow Kazaam and I understand you sent the fronts out to Koni to get them custom made right?

Well at least as they wear, we can stiffen them up a tad.

I never made a claim that one was better than the other... however, he did! and his entire rebuttal was regarding blues (and entirely different shock).

This is not a "PM" issue... people reading this thread need to know the basis of someone stating that Konis are better than D-Specs. That’s very important.

Had I read something like that prior to purchasing D-Specs, I would have DEFINITELY wanted more info.

One last note. The Tokico blues were absolute crap for the maxima. I know, I ran the blues and the adjustable Koni reds. There were no Tokico adjustables for the 3-gen maxima for me to compare them too.

I'd probably agree with Dave that the Blues are subpar based on my experiences with the maxima. But I'd defer comment on the D-specs and would give them the benefit of the doubt. I was ready to buy either/or depending on what came up for sale.

I read a few reviews on the Z forum and both guys that ran the Koni yellows either started out at/near full soft or ended up at/near full soft.
