03-06 Sedans With M45 Wheels, Please Come In!

Did a lot of research on this forum, spoke to several people, and still confused. Some guys use 5mm upfront with stock lugs, another is using 20mm all around with stock lugs, other can't seem to get the stock lugs to fit, WTF?

I'm putting the wheels on next week and don't know what spacers to get, I think someone even ran it without spacers and it was perfectly fine...

Is anyone using aftermarket lugs? I was considering getting volk lugs to a specific color, but not sure about fitment with the spacers issue....

My main concern is if I do need spacers which ones are the best quality, I don't want any vibration or any spacer related issues, thanks fellas...

Just got mine done 04G w/M45 sport wheels. Found out that for sure on a 03/04 you will need spacers in the front. I first installed the wheels w/o spacers, backs are fine but the front...... about a block after I got my M45 sports intsalled smoke started coming out of the front wheel well. Turns out that the inside of the tire was rubbing against the control arm. I got 15mm spacers and cr works perfect!! Hope this helps

I had 5mm spacers up front with stock lugs. Works fine. Been on there for over a year and no problems. Dropped on 350Z springs...

However, if I had to do it over again, I would have went with 15mm or even 20mm spacers with built in lugs to sit the rims flush with the fender. (whichever would have sat them at the fender without rubbing)

Hmm, so I guess this is a good way of finding out.

I spoke with someone 2 days ago that has same exact car as mine, from CT, he claims his setup is without any spacers with no issues. I guess I'll throw on the front and take a ride around the block to see how it rides, or if theres any smoke or sounds...

Also guys include what tires setup your using, I believe mine is 245/40 all around...thanks

Just run 15mm spacers all around. Get the kind that have the lugs built in. Trust me you will be happy with it.

You'll need spacers up front (5 mm minimum) to give clearance between tires and suspension arm. When i first tried to install fronts with no spacers i tried turning the wheel by hand and it would not budge. The 245/40 tires doesn't allow for clearance. I had to remove the wheel until i got spacers. I should have gotten 15 mm spacers with built-in studs but went with 5 mm spacers and longer studs. While the 5 mm spacers allowed for some clearance, albeit tight clearance, it still exhibited rubbing during hard turns. This is evident after going back to stock sport 18's. Tire and rim groove marks are "etched" onto the suspension arm. The only way the M45 rims will fit without spacers is with a 225/40 or 235/40 tire.

I went with 15mm all around and it looks sweet on 350z/coupe drop. No rubbing, but I would think 20mm would rub on bumps.

Ye I just made an attempt, the inner sidewall of the tire is rubbing the suspension arm. I'm a bit skeptical about spacers, so I'll think about this for a bit and see what I'll do. The wheels have goodyear rsa tires with really good thread, so I'm not trying to replace the front two tires to 235's...

Yesterday was more successful, a 5mm spacer gave it just enough clearance, the shop also sold me a-corn lugs, as opposed to the regular oem ones, the a-corn lugs spinned slightly over 6 times, the stock lugs only spinned 4x, and to me thats a safety issue, too many ppl had stock lugs fly off while in motion...

If you run at 225 tire setup infront, you should be good to go without any spacers, maybe even 235's, current tires are good till next season, so I'll def bring it down a size from 245....
