TS ECU Questions

Hey, since I am leasing my car I have a question on this mod...Do I need to send in a core or how does this work? I emaild TS, but I am betting you guys get back to me sooner. All my mods are listed below (yes I lease and yes I am not afraid to mod lol) so let me know what you think regarding the TS ECU deal...worth it or not, etc...I just spend an hr looking up old threads and everything seems to be pretty positive...

2 other quick questions...do I still need to get the 04 software on my 03.5 AT if I do the ECU update and what about the 170 F 350 Z thermostat...is that worth it too?

Thanks as always!

Re: TS ECU Questions

You can literally do whatever you want...the most they will do is ask you to take it off so you need to keep all your oem stuff...they don't even start the cars up on the return inspections so it's not a big deal.

Re: TS ECU Questions

bosssho:

you need to remove your ECu and send it to them. There is no core, as they are keyed to individual vehicle. You must have your ECU reprogrammed and then returned, so you will be without your car for a few days. (Unless you live in SoCal, then head on down to Torrance and watch Tadashi work his magic, you will need about 3 hours.)

The ECU is undetectable, unless the dealer tries to reflash your ECU... he won;t be able to since your TS flash has a higher ver. number.

04 software? for what? I have an 03.5 sedan and Tadashi did all the work custom for it. He alters each ECU for your mods... he just does not flash it and go... DONE!

check with DaveO on the thermostat....

Cheers, ted

Re: TS ECU Questions

SoCalTed,

I was referring to the 04 shift pattern software...that higher firmware version for the TSB regarding delayed shifting...I am thinking I should have that done first...then do the TS ECU upgrade...

it sounds like I can just call this Tadashi up and explain to him the exact mods I have and he can customize it off that...is this correct?

Now, since this is a lease, and since I live out in MA (as far from CA as possible) do I have any worries/downsides to doing this at all? Thanks for all the input!

Re: TS ECU Questions

The worst that could happen is they force you to buy a new ecu and and assume all future engine damage from lease end to warranty termination..........about a 1 in 1000 chance but understand what your potential liability is!

Then again they would probably have to convince a judge that your mods were a violation of EPA emission laws.

The posters were correct most don't check electronics on lease turn in but they are legally bound to check emissions which they usually don't. Flip a coin.

Re: TS ECU Questions

I am not worried about the lease turn in at all actually...only the stuff I wrote about as far as drivability and reliability...I guess I would like to know the TS could flash it back to stock too.

Re: TS ECU Questions

That would only make sence. kinda like it allows you to save old version of BIOS on motherboard when you upgrade it.
